i think he wanna really examine to great deal sakura
that's why he made a clone

now he has four eyes
2 different angle

lot of info can be gathered by that way

or the thing is that
he is suspecting sakura will do certainly something rash

and she is doing it
come out of village without any one's permission
now taking decision herself without caring about the village naruto and konoha 11
moreover creating more dangers for kiba and lee

so he hide that clone which will be very handy if anything happen wrong

Probably just to gather information on what Kakashi and Co. are hiding and what they're planning to do now. Sai is a ROOT member so he's more intuitive when it comes to spying and gathering intelligence then the other 3.

Sakura, kiba, sai and lee are all together, sai left a clone behind to check on what they were hiding, about madara and all. And maybe to check if they knew the location of sasuke or something. Hes trying to spy on yamato, kakashi and naruto. But naruto was meditating before they came, so he will maybe continue to meditate, trying to locate sasuke, but he will notice sais clone.
yup, i agree.

Danzo had asked one of his sub-ordinates to keep an eye on Sai b4 he left for the summit.. its cud be one of them disguised as sai.. Danzo thinks Sai might betray ROOT.. so may be it's one of ROOT's spy

i think he did it so after they are gone he can let naruto know what sakura is planning to do without naruto knowing sai feeling guilty by not telling naruto.. thus hes leaving a clone so he can tell naruto and the others about what they have discussed.. as it seems for me sai gives more about naruto and kakashi then sakura ( anbu superior kakashi and naruto for helping sai out of his lonelyness )

I don't think he left a clone behind, remember that only the kage bushin can send the information back to the user after dispersed, so what's the point?
The highest probability is that the hidden one is the real Sai and he's staying because:
1) He's going to tell everything to Naruto and listen to what he (Naruto) wants to do.
2) He's going to spy on them, but that will be a difficult task with both Kakashi and Yamato there.
3) He want to avoid something.
4) Kishimoto was drunken.

I think you might be on to something. Danzou doesn't completely trust Sai so that COULD be another ROOT member disguised as Sai.

It could also be the real Sai while the clone is with the Sakura group. I think JustMyself had a point.

as far as we know only shadow clone relay info back to the original. i'm not saying there couldn't be other clones that are capable of it, I'm just saying that as far as we know shadow clones are the only ones that can... then again, it COULD be a shadow clone. it's not like Naruto is the only one that can use them. we've seen kakashi use them and I think a few others so i suppose anyone that had access to the scroll could learn it; who knows what ROOT has access to. well, unless you're kakashi who can just copy it.

aaaaaanyway. so I think either:

-Sai left a shadow clone behind to gather info
-The real Sai stayed behind to talk to the others
-Or it's a ROOT member disguised as Sai to try to get close to Naruto (although I think yamato and/or kakashi would see through a disguise)

This is the one I agree with. But I think clone Sai is the one that went with the team, he will eventually disappear (be released) so real Sai, who is the one near team Kakashi, will be able to tell Naruto.

Sai is loyal to Naruto, all this "I love you" mess he accidentally brought about was because he wanted to help Naruto be released from the promise. But he has now realised Naruto has his own reasons for wanting Sasuke back.

Why did Sai do this? My guess, because he knows Naruto is the only one who can fight Sasuke - remember he's the calculating, thinking type- and that the Sakura team can be severly damaged. He may have also wondered what Naruto was going to talk about when Kakashi stopped him. After all, Danzou was involved in this, too, and Kakashi may have thought Sai should not be told about this.

There is also a slight chance that he's obliged to give some info to Danzou, remember he's got that seal in his tongue.
Now your on to something. Sai just may be looking at the best interests for Naruto but he is Danzo's lap dog so we'll see. On the other hand Naruto has the ability to change peoples mind about shitt so who knows but if Sai is looking out for Naruto than he will tell him of Sakuras plans and it will enrage him and set into motion another series of events that vier away form the main plot like the kages catching up with Naruto and explianing to them about the alliance and Madaras declaration of war.
