I think flashbacks have been a consistent thing to this manga since the beginning. It is just the way Kishimoto tells things, especially near a character's death. These people complaining about flashbacks in a war who only want action every chapter should just go read Dragonball.

No, I never said that you don't have the right to complain but the fact that such a great majority does complain in such a repetititve way while it self contradicts its desires as I said at the beggining and all that while they can't appreciate the true meaning behind this chapter is something that gives the right to become sad and occassionally express my anger because of the ungratefullness and shallowness of some people.

Some people just love to complain. Gai is an important character, and he deserves a flashback chapter if he's going to die.

I really, really hope Kishi doesn't pull some shenanigans to keep Gai alive post-8th Gate Release. His sacrifice is emotionally resonant because he's fully willing to die, even if it just means stalling Madara to protect the people he truly cares about (Lee, TenTen, Kakashi).

I really loved his reply to Minato. "Nobody here wants this to happen..." "That's not true. I want this to happen."

Give him hell, Gai-Sensei!

Why would anyone hate this chapter ?! Even if it was a flashback, it was an awesome flashback that showed the Seven Swordsman of the Mist XD

I hate this arc.

But I loved this chapter. Dai is an inspirational character and it was powerful watching him going out fighting to save his son against 7 elite enemies.

The only problem I have with it is the pacing. Guy should have done the jutsu by the end instead of dragging it out until next week.

Gai hurting Madara and then dying doesn't actually make him the second strongest character in NV. It is a Kamikaze attack, not even constant. He attacks and dies, does that make him the 2nd strongest ? No.

Example..

1) The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour, the USA had the most powerful fleet in the world. Did that make Japan the strongest army in the world ? No.

2) A weak football team defeats the strongest team in the world in one match. Does that now make them the strongest ? No.

Same logic applies to Gai if he hurts Madara.
