Ellipses, when used properly, can be used quite well. However, people on NB abuse them and use them in places where a simple coma can do the trick.

It's not that they use "short hand." They couldn't use proper grammar even if they tried. Hell, I doubt most people could use proper grammar in their native languages (in the case of English not being their first language).

Its like when your talking I guess you notice how words seem to flow when your in a casual situation. I also use them to signify awkward moments..

Yeah, I'm guilty of over using them but, usually it's within the same sentence where the same consistent thought is being drawn out and the sentence being a run on.
