Nice work Sam(I will always call you Sam lol.) The tag has a nice flow along with good color choices. Always make the smudge work the absolute focus when making a smudge tag. The render is simply there to complete it, but in saying that it must also work with the smudge itself.
To help blend the render into the smudge you could try smudging the shoulder of the render on the right side out with the rest of the smudging, and drag some of the blue over the render then highlight it a bit use a smaller sized brush as well like a 2-3px hard round brush.
Also don't be afraid to add some other effects in there that will help the overall look. This particular tag would have looks great with some fractals in the foreground, not too much though just enough to make the smudge pop more. Other things you could try is clipping masks using splatter brushes, or even some pen tooling.
I am not sure what type of brush you used, as others have said it looks a little blurry kind of like you have used a soft brush. If that is the case then I highly suggest using a 100% hard round brush, this will give you much more control as well as making it easier for you to get some nice detail in there. If you have added blur to the smudging, I will tell you that is a big no no when it comes to smudging. It works sometimes with a grunge style smudge, but not with the style you have gone with. Not only will it ruin the smudge work, but you will also loose any detail you had to begin with.
The last thing is the text, if you search up some of the great smudgers around you will notice that very few if any add text to a smudge tag. The simple fact is, that it is not needed in a smudge. It will only ever detract from the main focus which of course is the smudge itself, so avoid. using text in your smudges.
Other than that I think its a fantastic job taking into account you used a mouse. I tried a couple of times with a mouse, then I went straight out and got a tablet. You will be amazed how much of a difference a tablet makes, keep up the good work Sam
