. They just passed a law in Britain that says you can't smoke in the car with children. Do you support this law? I believe it's the government stepping in too far on people's personal freedoms again. And ill leave this here

Pretty sure that law is in Australia too.

I support it 100%.

Smoking is terrible.
Children getting secondhand smoke is worse.

I want to outright ban smoking, although the fallout would be terrible.

Smoking kills.
Second hand smoke kills more.
Children bodies are developing and it isn't good for their bodies.

I agree with the law given the effects of second-hand smoke. Also, personal freedoms don't come into play when that person is harming the health of another person.

I don't see a problem with this at all.

The law is there to protect children, they're not overstepping at all, that's ridiculous.

pretty sure hes discussing the legality and how it pertains to our freedoms..not a D.A.R.E lesson

anyways I do think its a little bit of an overstep, but untill we can promote good morals to our society till the point that we trust people wont do that to there children, its hard to find an alternative.

I don't see how you could possibly have a problem with that

I'm not big on the goverment invasion of people's personal decisions as a way to produce revenue. Crack a window... problem solved. But the state doesn't make money that way

>Crack a window.
You've never been in a car with a smoking driver, have you?

>Invasion of personal decisions.
You forfeit your right to that decision the moment it started affecting children.

>But the state doesn't make money that way.
You know how to not have the state make money? Don't smoke in the car with a child, then they can't fine you.

I've been in a car with someone who smokes, despite me having the window lower than a prostituted panties, the stench of smoke was still in the air. I agree with the law, smoke shouldn't be around developing bodies.

I agree that second hand smoke is bad, but I also get what your saying.

when do we cross the line, its one small thing after another. think about if they did a full on ban for cigarettes, its the government saying the people cant be trusted to make choices on their own and that would be against everything freedom stands for. Yeah ciggs are bad, but thats not the problem, if they get away with it once there's no saying how far they can push that precedent. When will they decide people cant be trusted enough to make other decisions as well

Il never get why people only look at the first layer of such matters...implications and intentions do matter.

My mom smoked 2 packs a day and every time we drove anywhere and I was still an all state athlete. You know anothe way for the state to not make money? If people didn't do crack either. Oh wait people tend to do addictive shit no matter the consequences. They know this and made an active decision to get some money from it. How long before they tell you not to smoke in the house with kids? And based on your car logic, it should be illegal to smoke within 2feet of a child, even in open air... where does it end?

The smoke still gets in the children lungs, children are people too, they shouldn't have to suffer because you want to smoke.

Not really an overstep compared to must things the way I say see it keeping smoke from around kids is the same as keeping a serial killer from killing.

The same can be said smoking in your house, or smoking within 5 feet of a child out in open air. Where does it stop?
