Well I was just reading up on OP and I saw that all Vice Admirals and above have Haki. So this means Smoker has it. Or maybe he's an exception. But if he does have Haki then he'll be a real match for Luffy still.

Haki is not some kind of wonder drug that makes you invincible. Honestly i'm getting a bit tired with Haki here Haki there.

If you paid attention in the war of the best you could see plenty of Haki users fighting other Haki users. Good examples are Vista + Marco Vs. Akianu. They sliced his neck open, with Haki ! But he was just like hmph...

Shirohige stabbed Aokiji with Haki, but no problem there.

Only when a Haki user is fighting someone without Haki they have a big advantage

see this weeks chapter:
Pekoms VS Caribou

Haki, will probably be pretty common in the New World among the top tier pirates, at least the two more common forms.

Besides Smoker also has his Jutte, and he could hold his own with that thing just fine.

Haki is nice, but it doesn't make you a super sayian.

Yes Smoker has the Haki. Actually it won't have been possible for him to become a Vice-Admiral if he lacks Haki and he may have mastered it more efficiently than Luffy.

He definately has to have haki

@Love Cook; Aokiji made a hole in his body himself when Whitebeard stabbed him, atleast it looks like that in the manga(look it up yourself o.o) and I believe Marco+Vista's haki didn't affect Akainu because he's on a higher level.

That's what I think because haki is the only way to damage a logia user unless you find their weakness(Croc+any sort of liquid)

I know what he did, I posted a video of that scene here in an other haki discussion. He only could've done that if he was able to read WB's move with haki. Because for all the other people who were watching they missed what was going on.

That is why I said that Haki vs Haki pretty much cancels it out when you are trained enough in it.

And you are just assuming that there are different levels of haki. I don't believe that Marco or Vista's haki isn't good enough to hit a logia user. You either can or cannot his a logia.

I agree with the statements above. There are no levels in Haki, there is only mastery. That and DF skill. If you've been with your DF for a very long time chances are you're a better fruit user than one who got a DF a while ago. Same goes with Haki.

I think i am disagreeing a bit here about Haki...

As far as i have seen there were quite a few moments in the war where there were direct hits with haki without much damage...

So i think it is certainly possible that some people have a stronger haki compared to the rest as such haki is used to blunt the incoming attacks as well as to make your attacks stronger, this being able to blunt the opponents haki based attacks to lessen the damage is the only thing i think that explains why certain attacks that ought to be fatal were not.....meaning every person has a different willpower and so every person has a different haki which would be on different levels...

Your statement would be so nice if Rayleigh said there were Haki levels. He didn't. He only told Luffy to master the basics, keyword being master. Only Haoushoku Haki grows with the user since it's something you can't teach.

Smoker said something in Alabasta about DF mastery, which the Admirals demonstrated successfully in the war.

One thing, having Haki isn't a prerequisite to be a Vice-Admiral. The thing is, having the knowledge of it's existence and how to train it, means almost all the Marines go of ir, so training super hard and becoming super strong usually means having Haki too. But I've never seen it actually stated that all Vice-Admirals MUST have Haki to be a Vice-Admiral. They simply need to be outstandingly strong.

Like I said before, I don't think Smoker needs Haki, he already has the baton with Sea Stone

Er, I think you've got it wrong.

"A doctor states Haki is a power all the vice admirals use."

Chapter 594.

From there we can infer that to be a VA, you need to have Haki. It's not a must per se, but you need to. It's still a combat unit after all.

yeah its true he said nothing...

But idk ....
it wont exactly be Haki levels, but like u say it grows with the user, so maybe the difference in the experience of the haki user sets them at different levels...
but whatever we will get a confirmation soon enough.

yes I agree Haki is mentioned as a pre requisite to become a VA.It was not directly mentioned but it was stated like all VA must posses SOme kind of Haki ,like mandatory for VA :) .

I don't believe that Smoker's Haki is going to be as strong as Luffy's .If he has then luffy's 2 years hard training with Rayliegh is only gonna be fruitless .I personally believe Oda is not gonna repeat history this time .I have mentioned it earlier in another thread .for the Past 650 chapters smoker always had an upper hand against luffy because of his logia ability .It is gonna be the first time where luffy is gonna officially land a hit on smoker this time .Oda is not gonna do injustice to luffy again .It is time luff shows us how much he has grown . :izuna:
