Smartest character in Naruto?

I'd say Tobirama is among the smartest in the series to be honest, then comes the Nara Clan. Smart is a vague term. If your talking about battle strategy Shikimaru takes the cake. Pure Knowledge would be SO6P.

Battle wise- smart isnt the same thing - Sasuke > Shikamaru - s06p is a fail he isnt even a ninja.

He's a character lol. There are multiple ways to asses what smart means. Pure Wisdom would be the Sages/Otsusuki followed by Notable Kages. Control over plot would be Itachi Minato Madara and Orochimaru. Shikimaru has the most clever feats SHOWN in the anime/manga.

Pure Wisdom? The Sage of the Six Paths created the Bijuu he has an overwhelming amount of knowledge. Itachi pales in comparison. The Frog that told Prophecies is above Itachi. Itachi is one of my favorite characters but he simply has knowledge on how to manipulate situations to his favor. The way he tried to stop the coup didn't really work out hoe he planeed for a minute but now its right. But smart? I'd say itachi is in the top three.

The only character Kishimoto bothered to actually give some sort of real world stat to indicate his intelligence was Shikamaru when he said he had an over 200 I.Q. There have been very few people in the history of the world who are considered to have that type of intelligence so I doubt there were any other Naruto characters Kishi at least thought more intelligent. His father Shikaku did beat him at Shogi when he was 13-16 years old, but that was more about wisdom than intelligence.

There is a difference between talent and intelligence. Sasuke was more talented than Shikamaru, but Shikamaru was more intelligent.

I dont know why people are saying naruto held back more?Most of naruto jutsu are variation of two techniques ,shadow clones and rasengan.Sasuke had so many ways to kill naruto,but plot make them draw.A simple ameno jutsu would end the battle,by send all naruto mid,and long range jutsu back at him.If Sasuke focus on petra path for the entire battle,then naruto will surely lose.Genjutsu alone was enough

If he's smarter than Itachi he's smarter than Minato vise versa ... which he clearly isn't. Minato figured out Kamui in seconds while it took kakashi, guy, bee, and naruto hours to figure it out and to actually hit him.

Naruto arsenal is the same... Rasengan was formed in place of a TBB by Minato so... yeah doesn't matter if it was a TBB or rasengan. Same concept, different explosion.

When did I say Sasuke is smarter than Minato Itachi or Tobirama?
Nothing more than assumptions with no proof..
Sasuke figure out Dedaira's clay was earth style, and the only shinobi to have multiple battle plans save shikamaru and his dad.
