Im really liking this thread a very interesting topic indeed. Well now to tell my tale, it happened quite differently from what most people here have described. So i woke up one morning by hearing my alarm go off i tried to reach over to it to switch it off but was unable to move. It shut off after a while, but the thing is i was wide awake, eyes open an everything unlike what people have described here and basically could not move it was so scary i didnt know what was happening i tried to open my mouth to call for help but my lips wouldnt move i could not do a single thing except for move my eyes for about 5 to 10 mins. I have no idea why it happened and quite frankly i hope it does not happen again and it has not so far so i just left it as a weird experience.

heey all i have experienced it too but i forced it
so it all began how i read text about luicid dreaming
everybody got some luicid dreamins sometimes so in this dream you can controll your dream you are aware of that you are dreaming
and you can do anything you want fo example flying, sleep with everybody you want etc. maybe in this case be naruto or make an rasengan(which i had once ;D)
so to achieve this dreams there a many techniques like reality checks etc
so back to the topic the sleeping paralyse is one of those techniques but is is one of the hardest
many experienced that scary shadows with red eyes are standing next to them or alien like creatures looking and make an autopsy on you.
the last 3 days i got 3 luicid dreamings with this SP
i woke up in the morning turned off the radio and went back to sleep in this time it is easier to achieve the complet SP because your body is tired and now you must imagine a place where you have been or where you want to be so
i did this just entered the dream you don't know the beginning of it but you are just in and then you can do everything you want for me i just flew around and fought robots :D and safed humanity and laid some chicks :p so you can google it
like i said there are many techniques to achieve this =) so i hope i helped you all ;D
and not gfto :p

this shit happens to me like 2-3x a year since 12th grade (im now a sophmore in college)........its scary and when it happens once, dnt try to go right back to sleep, i did and it happened 3 more times, when i looked at the time only 20 minutes pasted.....heres what you do (it worked for me), when it happens turn on the light and it just goes away.....while your in the paralysis you should try to breathe and open your eyes.

this happens because body didnt wake up as fast as your brain

I used to have these things for 2-3 years every 2-3 weeks.
It was scary as shit! Glad afterwards I got away.
I don't want to experience it again, ever!

Yes i did and it was awesome :D
but i just can controll myself not the enviroment that would be my next phase
but the time pases faster then in real life i gained that "ability" in like 3-4 months
it takes a bit to really have access to it =)

Not quite, but I've heard from people experience almost the same as you wrote... actually, alot of them also said that they saw some kind of shadowy person in front of them, and that person came closer and closer and their bodies wouldn't move... so yeah i does sound kinda creepy...
Yes, I have heard the same thing.

I never had a lucid dream. Sleep paralysis is somewhat different. My experience lacked some of the symptoms that occur in a lucid dream

lucid dream = realizing your in a dream
sleep paralysis = actually waking up but not being able to move an inch + other symptoms
Almost every night I get lucid dreams. Sometimes you can control the dream world or think for yourself like in real life instead of just watching the dream. The later is what I usually get.

It's a ghost sitting on your chest. I heard stories from a friend who has a mom that does witchcraft. Happen to me a couple times. Pretty scary because you feel like your dreaming but you aren't. Usually happens during a nightmare in which you try to wake up and when you do, you can't move your whole body. You can't even speak. I remember trying to scream for help and i just couldn't for a minute. No words came out. And then the ghost got up and I pretty much yelled the loudest HELP! ever. I looked around and just laughed it out. Pretty intense dream where i was about to get shot and i was in my car. and i suddenly couldn't move or press the gas. i was just stuck waiting to die. and then i woke up finally felt a brief sigh of relief until i felt under paralysis.

Ive had the same thing happen to me probably about 3 or 4 times, the first time would of occured when i was about 15, there was no flash of light or anything but i know i was awake, i couldnt move my body or open my eyes fully, i never really thought anything of them because i dont really worry about anything lol. Alll the times this happened to me were very similar apart from one i remember just before i fully woke up and had control of my body, i saw a dark shadow or a dark mass that looked like a hand resting on my chest.

I had suffered from sleep paralysis for quite a long time. The feeling during sleep paralysis is quite frightening. I even saw a shadowy figure sitting beside me. Sometimes heard strange noise coming from upstairs, the more I struggled the louder the noise got. But after several experiences I have adjusted myself to it. My trick is not to struggle but to relax. After sometime, the paralysis passes away.

I had it for the first time when i was 14 yrs old(9yrs ago). It was realy creepy..i was afraid to tell anyone because i thought no one will believe me.Its only when i got to university that i met a few friends who shared having thesame kind of experience with me.The technical term to describe this experience is "Out-of-body experience"(OBE) and it is explained scientifically as the body going to rest while the mind is still awake(mind-body dissociation). Some people are able to provoke their OBEs...Some even go as far as using it to do astral projections where they actually "travel" out with their minds while their bodies stay still.lol...so its pretty creepy but rest assured, you are not alone on this one.

I get sleep paralysis quite regularly, at least once a week (where it's off and on throughout the night), and depending on other factors, 2-3 times a week. I have had this condition for a long time now, I think since I was like 15 or 16, I'm 22 now. I have had some weird experiences related to my SP as well. I've had sleep studies done, and when I was really worried about it, my doctor even gave me medicine for it. I didn't take it for too long because I just didn't want to pollute my body for something I'm sure I can handle.

I've learned a lot about my SP, and it has made me more open minded as well, I know many different religious beliefs about it, and even supernatural beliefs as well. I had this group of friends in college (weird group of people lol) who actually thought we had some kind of supernatural ability, they thought that I was some kind of medium and that I just needed to control it.

There are actually a lot of predisposing factors of why you can have an episode of SP: anxiety, existing sleep disorders (I also talk, laugh, cry and sing in my sleep depending on the dream) life style, and even the foods you eat. I've noted that remaining active and keeping my anxiety level down helps a lot with my SP, and when I was most active and stress free, I went 2 months without an episode. I have also tampered with it a little. I have seen shadowy figures before during these episodes and sometimes I would not do anything, and just wait and see what happens, but then the pressure and feeling of not being able to breathe becomes too much, and I will myself out of it.

It can be quite scary, but I've learned to live with it and can pretty much control it sometimes

Well from everything i've heard on some Lucid Dreaming forums (I tried lucid dreaming 'nd stuff last year) Sleep Paralysis is something that happens every night to make sure that when you're dreaming (you dream every night if you didn't know yet) you don't do the same actions as in the dream in real life. Sleep Paralysis is not about demons trying to take over your body or something at all. Sleep Paralysis isn't really that scary but when someone experiences it for the first time and they can't move they get scared easy, which causes them to hallucinate. Also if people tell you Sleep Paralysis is scary, you will be like ''Omg this is gonna be sooo scary'' and scary stuff will actually happen.

If you want to know more about it try searching for some Lucid Dreaming forums, all of them have a lot of questions and answers for Sleep Paralysis.
