i think i've had what you call "demons" where it felt like i was getting absorbed into another dimension or something... couldnt breathe properly and felt like i was plunged into something.. but then i woke up and pulled the covers off of my face to take a huge deep breath XD

Sleep Paralysis is when the brain wakes up but the body is still in sleep mode.

You wake up & become aware of your surroundings but you can't move or speak. It is common for most to experience this, though some might not remember or think they had it but thought it was a dream.

If you have halluncinations when this occurs & feels like your chest is being compressed & have trouble breathing, this what they call "demons". & no, this has nothing to do with actual demons or whatever.

I'm 26 & I have had these since as long as I can remember. I get them once or twice a week, & the "demons" occur every few months. I'm use to it. But if you're experiencing them frequently & not liking it, you can see a doctor. They'll do some sleep tests & whatnot.
Every week? Wow that really, really sucks! Must be really hard to cope with yeah?
I Haven't had it an quite some time now. But there was a time where it was happening about... two times a night. And what i found so terrifying about it was that the compression you usually get, slowly started making its way down my stomach and to the.. *clears throat*O.O Genital region. Hahaha! but that of course was only once. I think..

I used to have it. It always scared the shit out of me. Waking up with your body unable to move while trying to yell for someone to wake you up while no sound comes out. At times I was able to move a little, very little tho.
Exactly! And there is the issue of being unable to breath s*** that makes it a whole lot worse!

It was hard at first & even went to see a doctor. After several sleep tests, change in diet & proper sleep, it hasn't changed anything. I quit the tests because I no longer wanted to be a test subject for them. After a while, I got use to it. It is only bad if I have a nightmare.

& it really freaks me out when I open my eyes & see the light at the bottom of the door coming from the outside, my eyes play tricks on me & I see shadows that starts to creep in.

I have it pretty often..feels like I always have(I'm 17/18 in March btw). I remember when I was little I would get freaked out about it, but I guess my brain/body has gotten used to it and it doesn't freak me out like it used to. I've actually "trained" myself to get out of it, if that makes any sense. I'll either bite my tounge or slowly( and I mean SLOWLY ) lift my arm/hand and hit myself as hard as I can(which usually isn't much in that state, but it's something). Just keep doing til I finally wake my body up. Biting my tounge usually works though.

I don't really hate it unless it happens in the middle of the night and I'm not able to go back to sleep. Otherwise it doesn't really bother me.

I suffer from it. It's been getting more and more frequent lately.

Tends to be a very frightful experience. I haven't heard of it ever being pleasant.

Don't think i've experienced this.

However, I have been waking up, getting up and then passing out. Left a scar or two.
Dude you should get checked out. That doesn't sound good at all!

Yeah I don't think I would want to be a test subject of any sort as well. So even to this day you still get it?? I never had any sort of nightmare whole it's happened And I wouldn't want to! It's terrifying enough without the nightmares! I'm sorry you gotta go through that. And I do see those eerie shadows though. Buy never any light.

There's no reason to be tested for it. There's nothing they can do about it, from what I've read. And it's not like it's hurting you..just a slightly weird experience, nothing more, nothing less.

It started when you were a kid?! That really sucks man! I can't imagine how terrified I would have been as a kid!
I Also tried the whole "moveing" my arm or "biting my tongue" I even try yelling! But none of it works. Well its good you can get out of it now and started to cope with it. Hope they stop for you soon.

Agreed. As for the hurting part, Do you ever stop breathing when you get it?

Take a look at "Saturn's" post on the first page. It explains everything.

Sleep paralysis. Do any of you suffer from it?
Just curious.

More often than I'd like to admit to although historically it was always believed to be a form demonic possession, and/or your soul rushing back to your body before you fully wake up...it's a very bizarre thing to experience being half up half asleep trying to move your body but can't it still scares me when it happens hasn't for 3 months now.....;)
