I started the elder scrolls with oblivion, so I'll admit I don't have as much invested into the series as some people, but I play them non stop and enjoy it, so I have a few things I'd like to dicuss with other gamers.
What's your preference for character race, favorite faction, favorite quest, weapons and armor?
I tend to lean towards elves mostly Bosmer. I usually focus on magic and archery using light armor (In skyrim I like the nightingale armor the most). My favorite quest is probably the quest for Namira or the questline for the Dark Brotherhood. Faction wise I have a tie between the dark brother hood and the theives guild... I like to be a little bit bad with my characters, lol. Your opinions?

I'm not much of a medival gamer, but I did play both Oblivion and Skyrim and also Morrowind, in these games I lead more towards the Imperial character with a 2-handed sword, and in Oblivion I liked having new attacks and such and ways to swing, its in my blood to be a swordsman, its all I like playing in games like them :D. I lean more towards the Warriors Guild aswell. When I got really powerful in Oblivion, I used Cloth Gear just for the fun

I've played Morrowind a long time ago, but I've mainly played Skyrim so I'll respond with respect to that. I like Argonians. Being able to breath underwater is immensely useful. I like the Thieves Guild best. I can't say I have a favorite quest, I've enjoyed them all (and I've literally done all of them including the side quests). I specialized in destruction and conjuration to begin with, and those are my favorites. My favorite armor is Daedric. I've smithed some myself and done enchantments to where I get over 2000 armor. I have a set made for each kind of combat.

Have you played the Dawnguard and Hearthfire DLCs? I wasn't that impressed by Dawnguard, but Hearthfire's actually quite entertaining in it's own way.

I've only played Skyrim/Dawnguard thusfar and I LOVED it. First time I played an RPG since ... Zelda I guess xd

Anyhow, I'm typically Nord or Imperial. I might try Dark Elf next time.

I use light armor - got all the way up to double-enchanted dragonscale armor ... which is pretty much OP'd.

Typically use bows and/or one-handed sword w/ Incinerate (magic), and Ice Form Shout. Once you get a dragonbone sword or bow and double enchant it with 100 fire and 100 shock damage it's pretty easy killing everything, so you have to put the difficulty to Master and I even added mods to make enemies more difficult.

Faction ... well I join all of them that I can, usually side with Imperials but I have played Stormcloak too. I'd have to say the Theives guild is the best though, especially once you get the crown of Barenziah or whatever it's called -> it makes it so that you pick up a boatload more precious gems in all chests/urns/whatever. EASY money at that point.

Aaaaand that's about it. Can't wait to go back and play the older games in the series! :)

-Dunmer
-Dark Brotherhood
- Daedric armor (can't remember what I used in Morrowind)
- For weapons, in Oblivion Dawnfang/Duskfang and Umbra were my favorite weapons (Daedric Sword and Axe in Skyrim, and can't remember what I used in Morrowind...again)

The Elder Scrolls series does seem to pull a lot of people past genre lines, I think its because they're just so interesting and have so much to do. I have yet to actually make an Imperial character actually, lol. I have had a few characters that use two handed weapons though, I liked using them more in oblivion compared to skyrim, I dunno why, but in skyrim i tend to lean towards one handed swords and bows. Lol about the cloth gear, I've never tried that, I suppose its a way to make the later fighting even more difficult.

dark elves. Oblivion is waaaayy better than skyrim IMO. You can join any and every faction btw. bad is the way to go. i love the shimmering isles dlc. my fav bethesda game is fallout 3. you should play that bro.
Personally I like Skyrim better because of the graphics, however I love the story line of Oblivion... poor martin... I did like the factions in Oblivion a little bit better, except i like the plot for the theives guild and the mages guild a lot more in Skyrim. Being evil is more fun, lol... slaying chickens in skyrim for no reason is wicked fun, lmao. I play the fallout series also, but I lean more towards New Vegas, even though I played 3 first.

Argonians are awesome, especially being able to breathe underwater... saves so much time, money, and potion ingredientsa when your trying to do some of the quests. Theives guild does rock, especially the quest line in Skyrim. I have yet to actually get the DLCs because I don't have internet at home right now...living in the countryside is lovely, plently of land, lovely scenery, nice neighbors, not a lot of noise... but I'd rather live in the middle of time square if it meant I could get DSL... sad, but true....

Nords are pretty cool, though I've never been an imperial. I like Light armor too, it just seems to work better for me. It sounds like we use pretty much the same type of weapons and combat style too, I play through the game multiple times, once on each difficulty. I tend to ally myself with the Imperials too, I played the second time through as a stormcloak but I just never got into it. Theives guild does rock :D I think you can get the crown of bazaria without following the faction though.

Skyrim is incredibly overrated. Truth is, it's an RPG, yet 95% of the quests are predictable and dull,
virtually non of the NPCs acknowledge you for your achievements, for example, let's say that you are
the Archmage of the college of Winterhold, the courtwizard whom you meet in the Main-quest will still treat you like a lackey.

Then of course there is the combatsystem, which is pressing two buttons, yet it still feels unresponsive,
and it replaces Oblivions system with dual-wielding, which is actually limiting the players possible options
when you compare it to that of its predecessor. Oh well, done ranting. Let me just repeat my main-point:

For an RPG to be interesting it's IMPERATIVE, that there is engaging storylines with interesting characters.

Well, I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, but personally I love the games. It's a new world for me to escape to, and the more I play it the more I love it. I think the story line and quests are engaging and interesting.
