I think it would've been nice if they degraded from each powerup after every bout as they got more tired. War forms, Sage Mode VS MS, to the Sannin link back in time nicely for their final Valley style Rasengan/Chidori clash.

Big chakra avatars never interested me personally so as good as the anime version of the fight was (manga was quite bad) the rushed final battle wasn't much impressive simply because it lacked the intimacy of other fights like Gaara VS Lee, Jiraiya VS Pain or VOTE1.

This would be cool it would just be hard for the audience to believe
sasuke can't control rinnegan has to resort to EMS and Naruto can't use RSM has to go down to BSM
Then sasuke's MS powers are fluttering can only use small susanoo and normal ninjutsu and naruto has to downgrade to KCM cause exhausted
Then for some other reason his eyes are draining and naruto loses KCM and they resort to mid-early shippuden skills

People wouldn't understand why their powers would keep decreasing on increments like that especially after the IA rasenshuriken clash, I do wish they did it like that though would've been interesting to see maybe one version of sasuke>naruto then the other version of naruto>sasuke until they finally get down to the end

If it happened somewhere around Pain arc w/o the introduction of Susanoo and other MS perks...
I always wanted Madara V Hashirama battle to be the highest level of competition in NV and Rinnegan the ultimate power of Sage.

Sasuke using his Curse mark and Hebi-form talents Vs Sage Mode Naruto, that'd have been a far better battle than the one happened.

That would take a lot of chakra and they were already at their limits. Naruto only had enough chakra for a couple rasengans and one use of shadow clone jutsu.
