Just a tip:
When you are doing borders in gimp, create a new layer in the layers panel, then in the main panel click "Select", then from the drop-down menu choose "All" (This can be shortened by simply clicking choosing the new panel and hitting CTRL+A). Next, go to the "Edit" menu and select "Stroke Selection..." to bring up the dialog which lets you choose your brush settings, line thickness, patterns, etc. Play around with these settings and click okay. It'll make a perfect border layer which can set above or blow any other layers.

Get used to working with Stroke Selection and Stroke Path, they are life savers in GIMP.

Lacking that, I like the overall design.
