So would we then have tobi as a mystery character not knowing who is or motivations, tobi was interesting in akatsuki as the quirky member, but never seen him growing to big threat him being obito legitimized him being a villain, but honestly Kaguya made more sense as final villain.

Nahh, we wouldn't have had Juubi Madara, or lots of cool moments.

It could work given a few differences. Like him claiming to be Madara when his true identity as the original Uchiha or possibly even his own father would hold that much more weight. But the thought crossed my mind making this thread that Tobi being the Elder Son could have worked pretty well.
given what was said about Indra being a lone wolf and having great pride in his abilities, Indra being "Tobi" would've made 0 sense at all. On top of that, there is no plausible explanation as to how dude could live about 900 or so yrs in secret just to lose to Minato and have problems taking on his kid.

Nah, Madara lacks one big thing needed for the Final Villain...

He has too little of a connection to the Protagonist.

So that doesn't matter not every villain has to be connected to the main character and despite what u said he is connected to naruto he is an uchiha who had Indra whose brother was Ashura who is "inside" naruto was best friends with Harashima who naruto is related to

and like BZ he set events in motion that would effect narutos life

Itachi claimed Madara was a former shell of his pathetic self claimed tobi was trying to restore himself so Indra losing his powers and foremen skills in his fight with his brother would masked sense having Rikudo blood and info on jutsu's that were ancient and hidden from others would make it possible for him to live longer

not seeing an explanation here as to how it would be possible. Throwing out Itachi's account as proof is a bad idea, considering:
1. What he knew about that fight was a lie that was told to his face.

and

2. It's also been substantiated before "Tobi's" identity was exposed that Madara actually got killed in that VotE fight, so any chance that story had at being half plausible shot out the window.

It made a lot more sense to go with Obito because for a bunch of other reasons, it was much easier to explain him surviving the cave-in and his transformation to a villain rather than trying to make-up more deux ex machinas out of thin air to explain Indra secretly being alive and brittle for almost 900 yrs.

Well, this is all hypothetical. Indra would have been greatly weakened in this case, a shell of his former self even. At the time we also had little to no idea of what his character was like, so him being a lone wolf doesn't excuse much, Plus, if he was Tobi, some explanataion would arise to his immortality and reason to be there. But since he wasn't such explanation was never given.
