I agree that would've worked great too, if the Juubi was written to have a primordial consciousness of sorts and could hijack its Jinchuuriki to take control rather than just being a raging beast.
Hell yes, man. I was a heavy believer in the theories surrounding it too.
I thought it hadn't reached it's final form yet and that this was it's final form.

True but he had more of a connection with Sasuke Naruto's rival so it would have stilled worked. Especially since Naruto and Sasuke needed to fight him together.

A connection that is barely ever explored up until the final confrontation. It could have worked if it had been built up properly, but...

Nah, Madara lacks one big thing needed for the Final Villain...

He has too little of a connection to the Protagonist.

Look at bleach. ichigo and aizen had little in common but everyone wanted that to be the FV.

We can all agree that Kaguya was not that fully developed as a final villain. Madara had too little a connection to the main characters and Obito, despite having ALMOST everything, still didn't quite fit the bill as perfectly as most of us would've liked.

So was the Masked Man truly the best option for a final villain?

It seems so. He is still very much threatening, unlike Obito, and he is powerful, has connection to both the main characters, a viable goal...I don't know. Maybe if he'd been handled differently, maybe even given a different identity, a different reveal....well, anyway, what do you guys think?

Obito is by far...the best choice...no one other then minato could solo him...if he didn't beat himself by giving kakashi the eye...he'd be unstoppable...kamui is just too nasty...final battle should've been obito vs madara....

There is a clear link there to be established and taken advantage of to make Madara and Sasuke interact. A very clear one as a matter of fact.

The author didn't take advantage of it because he chose not to.

As long as his reveal was Inner Saukra. That'd have made much more sense.

Yes. But I still think him being Obito was the best choice even if it did have holes in it. Him being some random guy we;ve never seen before would've made no sense because why bother keeping the mask on him or prolonging the mystery.

Sasuke should've been the final villain. (If he wasn't already. Up for interpretation)

When Obito became jinchuuriki he looked the final villain and a real threat go watch episode 381 for reference

He was the first jin so it was scary, yea. Then when Madara did it, it was kinda meh.

Was hoping he'd be the elder son! Indra!

Knew so much about the past (the story behind Indra and Ashura almost as if he was there to witness it). Had knowledge on so many techniques and abilities he came accross. Access to secret Uchiha techniques. A silly reason like his MS having the same swirl pattern as his warping. I believed he was a fragment of his former self but not after fighting Hashirama but rather after fighting Ashura. Madara knew him so I believed he couldve been the one who taught Madara all he knew and how to awaken EMS/Rinnegan.

And ofcourse, Indra wanted peace through power which is exactly what Tobi was after. Letting Madara in on the plan.

It turned out to be Obito though

It could work given a few differences. Like him claiming to be Madara when his true identity as the original Uchiha or possibly even his own father would hold that much more weight. But the thought crossed my mind making this thread that Tobi being the Elder Son could have worked pretty well.
