Should suicide be legal? This is a question that has been asked many times and people have strong opinion on it often.
I believe that suicide should be legal. I have thought about this topic thoroughly and want to share the reasons with the NB community.
In my opinion everyone should have the right to suicide or to live, I do not think It's fair to force or to tell someone to keep living when they truly do not want to. A good example that I thought when it comes to suicide is this:
Imagine there is a man, a man that feels extreme physical pain everyday, pain to the point where it's really just unbearable. Now imagine that there are people around him that keep telling him to endure it because it's the "right thing" or because it's "cowardly" to suicide. The truth of the matter is that not everyone can endure physical pain, It's just too much for some people and they can't change it.Is it right to tell them to do something that they just can not do?
Now let's switch the physical pain with mental pain. There are people that just are in constant depression and mental stress and torment every second of their lives, just because you and I may have over come something does not mean that that person can do it as well, so why get in the way and tell him to do otherwise?
What is the reason that you want someone to not suicide? Is it because you want them to live? Is it because you want them to be happy? You must understand that this is a very selfish reason because It's not your life to begin with, you are trying to control something that is not yours. How will it affect you if someone suicides? Will you be sad that they left you? Are YOU truly happy knowing that someone else is living in tournament every day just because you will be sad if they go?
At the end of the day we all have our lives, most of us sleep in comfortable beds and are mentally stable, It's easy to tell someone to go through something when you don't have to go through the daily torturer.Talk is cheap, when you switch the roles things become a lot harder.
For a lot of people, It's a forced march through hell and I think suicide is freedom, the freedom to do whatever you like with the one thing you TRULY own... life. Stopping someone from LIVING or Suiciding is you trying to take that one thing everyone is given when they are born, that one thing that only they own.
