I've noticed that the majority of the Naruto fanbase finds what Itachi did to be heroic, but was it really worth it? Murdering your entire clan, your mother and father, for a bunch of strangers who wouldn't care?
Sasuke chose revenge over the village, but wouldn't the rest of us? If we had the means to avenge our murdered family, wouldn't we at least try? Why would any of us really cling to a village full of people we don't know, when our family's murder is out there for the killing. The Will Of Fire seems to be an ideology focused on brainwashing kids into complete loyalty to the village, but if anything, Itachi had no reason to love Konoha.
Itachi takes pride in Konoha but at the same time, there wasn't anything that tied him to it. He had no one there that he loved besides Sasuke, it just seemed like something that Kishimoto added to justify his very rash actions.
I want other people's perspective on this, because a lot of people seem angry with Sasuke's character for abandoning the village, when facing the facts, he didn't really have any worthwhile ties when he was there.
