Should I wear a gun in this situation?

I decided to put this in GD because guns happen to be somewhat controversial. I'm about to start keeping a small store open late at night for my family, it's a record shop that also sells gifts of all sorts (mostly hippie stuff) as well as pipes and hookahs. I think the business would boom if it stayed open for later, but I'm worried about the types that might come in at 11-12 at night (during the day is scary enough sometimes). So should I have a gun when I do this? I'm thinking it should be open carry just so people can see it when they walk in (would this affect sales?).

If you're in favor of such a thing, then recommend me a model if you don't mind, I'm going with a Glock though because the police use it. Also, I've never owned a gun before; plus I hate guns, I prefer fists if something goes down (I'll always win with fists xd). In fact, I actually can't believe I'm even considering this, if you told me a few months ago that I'd be carrying a firearm, I'd have literally rolled on the floor laughing. >.>

For one, Obama has single handidly destroyed small businesses, so we can't afford to keep closing so early. Plus, the store has a record of doing a lot of sales in the past when it stayed open later, there's also a lot of foot traffic on this particular road at night.

There are several things you want to consider. Are you prepared to use it? Does the moral cost of using it outweigh the potential loss to the store? Does your store have theft insurance? If after answering these questions you still decide you want to pack heat, I strongly recommend you get firearms safety training and conduct target practice at a shooting range. Additionally, considering your clientele, it wouldn't hurt to get a concealed weapons permit to avoid scaring people off. Finally, for the purposes of defending the store, a shotgun might be a better option than a pistol.

I am more than prepared to use it, but I'd like it as more of a deterent (prevention is better than cure). I don't know if the store has theft insurance , but most likely not, my dad hates insurance. I'm already planning on visiting a range, but I don't need training, my dad was in the Air Force and carried a pistol at all times, he taught me more about gun safety than any person should ever know. xd There's also a lot of robberies in my city, and usually the clerks at gas stations and stuff get shot whether they cooperate or not. Also, there's a person down the street that just runs a plain old head shop, he carries a gun day and night and never gets robbed...

Huh, that link just goes to some random stuff and the links don't work. :/ I'm thinking that if most people see it, then they'll think twice about doing anything. If they shoot me first they better pray real hard that it kills me immediately, if I have even half a second to live they're dead. There's a guy down the street that open carries; he steals a lot of our business at night and he's never been robbed.
