Ok. Several things. I have to go to court on tuesday because "Failure to dim highbeams (Bright lights) behind a cop" I was about 3 cars behind her. BUT
I have school that day and really dont want to miss it but i dont have.. Or rather say dont want to GIVE them 100bucks.
the fine is $98

I had a preg girl (my sister) in the car when it was dark outside and I have bad eye-sight in the dark
Also the lady wrote the wrong date on it (Jan 22, 2012) when it should have been 2013. My mother and stepdad said I can fight that and i will most likley win. but my thing is... I dont want to miss class... If anybody have valid info.. Will it be certain they will pretty much throw the case out cause of the wrong court date.. or what?

Get the court case done. That's much more important, because if you don't go you might get fined alot more than $100.

Ask for catch-up work in advance for your missed class. I'm sure they'll understand the situation.

The cop that pulled you over sucks, though. There's plenty of other crimes out there that the cops should be spending their time on, rather than pulling people over for something fairly miniscule.

No warrant. My mother said they will just fine me court cost and the regular $100 seeing as its nothing big.
But they said i have so much to work with.. And to be honest.. This is kinda my dream. >_> to defend myself in court to even see if im worthy of becoming a lawyer. but I hate missing days to school man

Everytime I missed an important day in college, I'd personally go to my teacher the next day and ask him to fill me in and give me the work I missed out on. If you skip court, they could fine you much more and it'll drag out the process. You don't want that man. If you're not a regular offender and you present your reasons in court, I'm sure they'll let you off.

what i learned from law class is that if a cop makes a mistake on the ticket, like misspelling your name or what ever, you dont have to pay it on a technicality. might want to clear this up with someone who knows more about law, if you happen to know anyone

im going by canadian law by the way

Unless you are being arrested or having your property seized - the wisest thing to do as a citizen is to graciously accept the ticket from the police officer and take any complaints with it to the judge/court assigned for the ticket.

I had a preg girl (my sister) in the car when it was dark outside and I have bad eye-sight in the dark

The best thing for you to do is to show up in court and explain the situation as fairly as possible. I would not count on the misprinted date, nor would I recommend failing to appear in court.

Remember - the Judge ruling on the ticket has heard and seen a lot. I wouldn't try to pull the wool over his/her eyes, and I wouldn't try to play on technicalities like the date. That's just bound to put him/her in a bad mood.

As for missing class - if there is a specific time on your ticket, then it really takes a lot of the options out. If it gives you a range - pick the time that is the least inconvenient and explain your need to miss class to the instructor (I believe it is a common law amongst all states that a court summons must be heeded without penalty to workers, and quite possibly students - though that may require an interpreted extension of the law). Your instructor may give you the opportunity to sit in on another class covering the same section on a different day (or a different time).
