Tell me what you know about Lightning. Everything to the concept of it, its purpose, ways of use in battle and supplementary uses. Lightning Release, or Raiton for shorts is the A prime offense element. Its piercing capabilities and viscous damage to body parts has earned it one of the most dangerous canon releases. It can be used as both offense (e.g. Chidori, Lightning Blade) and defense (e.g. ground aimed Chidori Nagashi ) I want to learn it because I want to become the Sage of Lightning (Don't laugh at me!)
Raiton is particularly strong against Steel and Wood, with its piercing factor as I said before most of these techniques fall prey to this aggressive release. Aburame clan's bugs fall fall prey to it too, Blast Release, Magnetism, Sand, Shikotsumyaku, cancels with Dust, Lava Release, and Shadow are all inferior to Raiton :D
Famous people of the Lightning Release are Ay (4th Raikage), Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Killer Bee, and the 3rd Raikage..
I classify the Raikage's ability of super speed and reaction using a Raiton cloak as a KG, I mean, no one else has been seen with it or use so damn good .__. (3rd dodging a blindside Rasenshuriken)

Raiton isn't the God element though, it is weak against Paper Ninjutsu, and Fuuton. Forgive me but I can't picture Raiton being susceptible to anything else ._.

You are forgetting that Raiton is easily absorbed by Dark Release. And as for Kekkei Genkai, Raiton makes up Storm Release, Dark Release, and presumably Blast Release, Swift Release, Magnetism, and Sound (depending who you ask).

Now, if you take this piece of paper and channel your Raiton chakra through it, it will begin to shrivel up into a smaller, wrinkled, brown version of what it is now. Now, lightning is simply the discharge of built-up energy, which is replicated with chakra by building up energy and then releasing it in a highly concentrated form which ionizes the air and creates sparks of electric energy (this is my personal view on "what is Lightning Chakra?"). Chakra is then used to sustain these lightning bolts (sustain is used loosely, as if you watch the anime lightning bolts appear and then disappear quickly like static discharges jumping everywhere) and control them; even shaping them. So, as you focus on your raiton chakra, I want you to describe how Raiton interacts with the other four basic elements; what happens when it comes into contact with Doton, Fuuton, Suiton, and Katon? And remember; questions can be asked at any time.

Awesome, thanks for taking the time out again.

I took the paper from the sensei and waved it a bit in the air to make sure it was still simply a sheet of paper. I then began to concentrate on my chakra in general. Pooling it in my solar plexus I began singling out the various chakra natures I was already used to. The flowing, cool suiton, the aggressively warm katon, the tough, flaky doton, the sharp, semi fluid feel of fuuton. But what was this 5th one? It felt like an unpredictable creature dancing around in me around the elements. It was an eccentric feeling. I then focused on harnessing this strange power source and placing it in the palm of my hand, the paper appeared unharmed though.

Now while I give this some time lets discuss Raiton's relationship with the other elements:

Raiton vs Katon: A raiton technique versus a katon technique of the same rank would simply cancel out leaving the air covered in tiny lightning tendrils and flaming puffs of air.

Raiton vs Doton: Absolute win, the best attack vs the best defense but in this case raiton wins. It crumbles doton due to its piercing/vibrating/speed attributes. Doton is no match for raiton essentially and it is often used to to try ad break defenses or test the defense of a jutsu.

Raiton vs Suiton: Well we all know water conducts electricity quite well due to its mobile ions- but a suiton justu vs a raiton jutsu of the same rank will still cancel. The raiton would infiltrate the suiton jutsu and disassemble the chakra bonds (what allows the user to control the jutsu) causing the suiton to fall apart in a blanket of water, the suiton in turn also disassembles the raiton user's bonds rendering both techniques inert.

Raiton vs Fuuton: Due to Fuuton's cutting and violent nature it would no doubt be the match for raiton. It would effectively tear apart the very ions of the raiton, leaving it nothing but particles flying through the air in seconds. A fuuton technique of any rank is stronger by one rank lower of a raiton technique due to this effective attribute.

The paper slowly begins to crumple...

Just as a comment, while pure water doesn't conduct electricity very well, it can be said that our chakra makes suiton "impure", and that is why it conducts Raiton (just in case the idea that "all water conducts electricity" translates to the real world <.<). And Air is also an insulator of electric current, which is another reason why Fuuton is strong against Raiton.

The "chakra adding impurity" is just my own opinion to explain why Suiton conducts lightning. It's not official or anything, just my own explanation.

Now, I'll give this thread to Noni to begin.

(Raiton no Jutsu) - Lightning Release Technique

Description: The user will manipulate their chakra to create small bolts of lightning to attack their target.

I want you to focus on your chakra system and gather your raw chakra from all over your body. Send the chakra through your arm all the way to your finger tips. Manipulate the nature of the chakra into raiton chakra and release that raiton chakra towards the dummy next to me. Small bolts of lightning will be released from your fingers and should shock the dummy. Straight forward nothing to much about this technique.

Focusing on the wild, unpredictable raiton chakra I begin to focus regular chakra from my core into my shoulders. Then into my arm, and as the chakra is being transferred throughout my arms I convert it to raiton, it leaped through my veins with vigor. As it entered my palms I could hear a slight crackling noise. Then, as enough is pooled I released this raiton chakra from my fingertips shocking the dummy.

Description: The user will concentrate their chakra and slam their hand on the ground to release a surge of lightning across the ground to the opponents feet to shock them.

Same as before ocus on your chakra system and gather your raw chakra from all over your body. Send the chakra through your arm all the way to the palm of your hand. Manipulate the nature of the chakra into raiton chakra and slam your hand on the ground and release a surge of lightning through the ground towards the dummy standing next to me. The lightning will shock the dummy from underneath.

Harnessing the unpredictable chakra into my arms I focused it into my wrists then my palms, sending the tendrils into my fingers. As soon as I had gathered enough chakra I slammed my hand on the ground, releasing all the stored Raiton chakra into the earth. It travelled along the ground to electrecute the dummy from feet up.

Description: The user moves his palm unleashing a wave of lightning bolts at the opponent.

Okay the description is not much to work with but I will try to explain it best. This is very similar to the previous jutsu we learned. Focus your chakra and channel it to one of your hands, and then change your chakra into lightning as you release it forward. Manipulate the released lightning into a wave of small lightning bolts that you shoot at the dummy. and...GO!

Adopting the same method I used before hand I focused on sculpting my chakra into the element Raiton. First I bring my chakra from my core into my shoulders, down my right arm and through my wrist and hand. Then, as it reached my fingers I converted it into the infamous Raiton releasing a crackling sound as small tendrils of lightning energy danced though the air and almost harmlessly caressed the dummy

How to use the template and fill it out effectively. This will also help your career in RP but it is quite a read though I do expect you to read it and carefully at that. I will notice if you have or not, and failure to write out the template correctly will result in a re-do of the jutsu(s).

Performance
When it comes to the performing point of the template, its all about imagination but this one is considered the most obvious of the whole template. When the student performs something you need to paint a picture in the teachers head to give them a clear image of everything that is going on and how you are reacting or feeling about the jutsu. Each jutsu will give different feelings and reaction. It is your job simply to show me how and what you are feeling and what is going on when performing the jutsus.

The things I expect in the performance are two things that are most important when performing the jutsus. The first is called Nature Manipulation. Nature manipulation is when the user will manipulate or control their raw chakra to change in basic nature which is one of the five basic elements. Now most people like to simply say something like this:

Yes this is okay but where is the creativity or the respect of actually wanting to perform and feel the jutsu? Now to explain every basic element properly on how to manipulate chakra into nature with more imagination and creativity such examples like this would work.


Now this is pretty much the basis when it comes to nature manipulation on how I see fit and what is best to impress your teacher. Now if you are wondering about how should I explain all the natures, well think about their property. Lightning has high frequent vibration and electrical sharpness, fire is superheated and blazing warm, water is free-flowing and very flexible, earth is rough and versatile, wind is sharp and thin with great accuracy. To be able to explain them you simply have to free your mind and become as creative as you can.

Now I can understand some times you don't want to go that deep into the jutsu because some are more simple then others and I can understand that, all I ask is to try and not be lazy with it.

The second thing that is most important when performing a jutsu correctly is called Shape manipulation. Now this is when you take the chakra or the chakra nature and shape it into any form or shape it requires to be properly formed. Shapes include spheres, animals (All types), blades, ect. This is all about attention to detail, and how precious you want to be when trying to perform the jutsu. Now here is a regular example that is done usually.

Though again, that is not exactly wrong but where is the fun and creativity in that? This is all about paying attention to detail and how much you want to focus up on it. Here are some other examples that are more suffice.


This is pretty much all it takes nothing more or less. You do not need to go extreme but detail is always best not only for me as a teacher but when you get in the habit of making proper and creative replies it will follow you in battle and help you greatly their when the time comes.

Creative uses/strengths

Now we are getting to the important part of all this. Now with this template I expect two things each with a total amount of detail. What I mean is firstly I expect you to tell me the strengths of a certain jutsu, I don't care how it works. I want to know what makes it useful. Things like that can include the jutsu is able to move in all ranges giving it a large amount of mobility. Another is you can send multiple attacks with one jutsu to attack more then one opponent or trying to barrage the opponent with attacks to make evasion difficult. Yes this are quite the small strengths but stuff like this count in the eyes of a teacher and needs to be taken in account. Though those are just some small examples what you really need to do is look into the jutsu itself. Try adding all or as much strengths with what you see in the jutsu. Also I understand some jutsus are more simple then others and might not have as much advantages but that is okay, its all about trying and thinking about it. But I do expect 1-3 strengths mentioned.

Lastly to perfect the strength portion, this is simple but something so many students fail to do. When you give a strength explain why that is considered a strength. Yes explain why. This is the most important part because it shows us how you plan on using it in battle and the teacher will be able to pick out what you have done wrong specifically. So simply saying it goes long range does not make it a hardcore advantage because if you think about it, that can also be considered a disadvantage. So by saying that it is very wrong and can confuse the teacher, all we really do is assume and guess what you are trying to say. So trying to perfect it, you would need to say something like this.This is the correct and proper way in doing the strength portion of the template.


Now the second portion of the template is creative usages. What is this is simply a combo or something you would do with the jutsu. This helps the teachers notice your style and what you are likely to accomplish in fighting so if you are doing anything wrong we can inject it and fix it so you do not make a mistake in battle. This is all about just being creative, every jutsu has a unique usage and can be used creatively or at the very least used in correspondence with other jutsus to create a combo to attack the opponent or turn the table on them.

Simple combos are of all kind, and most teachers will explain the jutsus usually giving a combo or a usage you can use, but it is the very basic of it. It is simply meant to show you how it is meant to be used or just to give you an idea. All because the teacher says it does not mean we want you to repeat what we said. You need to come up with another detail or combo. Simple combos could be like sending a fire jutsu towards the opponent and then use a jutsu to shake the ground to put the opponent off balance so it will be hard to react with the attack, and a more powerful combo could be when sending a fire jutsu direct it towards the ground and then send a single blade of wind behind the fire, which you can then activate the blade to turn into a hurricane to create a powerful fire vortex. Though with newer RPers they tend to sometimes use basic combos because they have seen less of the jutsu list or understand it less then others, but when you move on and learn more jutsu creating combos become much more easier and you begin to take action effectively.

Drawbacks/counters

Now this is the complete opposite of the strengths and creative usages. This is as equal as the strengths and creative usages for it allows the teacher to see exactly how is your understanding of the jutsu. Usually when people look at jutsus they tend to leave this with very little detail and failure to explain it properly. This is because many people believe disadvantages are to obvious to try and explain on why its a disadvantage which is the wrong mentality when doing this point. There are things with drawbacks and counter that need to be taken in account. What I usually expect from the student here is at least 1-3 drawbacks and at least one counter for the jutsu you would do.

Drawbacks when looking into it is not explained from the student, it is usually because of the double standards people give to jutsus. As I explained in the above long range attacks would be great attacks but their are disadvantages to them, one being is if the opponent is long range it will take much more time for the attack to reach the opponent so they will be able to counter the attack with ease. The thing is when it comes to advantages their will always be a disadvantage to that very thing. If something is great to use in short range battle it is useless in long range, if the jutsu is a projectile technique it can be used with combos but the jutsu will usually be straightforward and easy to anticipate. This is something always to consider when writing disadvantages that they're will always be one as long as you have listed advantages or mention them. So if you have two advantages mentioned then their is a huge likely hood that their will be two disadvantages with that, so their should not be much of a ratio difference between the two.

Listing proper drawbacks all depends on the way you fight and how you see the jutsu being used, usually it is looked at if the jutsu is sent or used against you, what would be the initial weaknesses you would sense. Firstly too look into listing them you have to take account everything in your senses and the jutsu concept. When it comes to the senses examples include if you send a large fire attack towards the opponent you will likely not be able to see through the fire so you won't be able to see how they are moving or what they are doing. If the opponent tries to use a jutsu with earth release that uses the ground as a medium you will be able to use your sense of feel, to feel the density of the ground begin to shift or change. Stuff like this are obvious disadvantages. Now when it comes with the jutsu concept those are usually the usual people tend to look into, so lets say the chidori only works in close range battle so it can't be used for anything but close range battle limiting the jutsu. Also jutsus that have long list of hand seals are disadvantages because it might take some time to perform the jutsu leaving you open. Streaming techniques are usually not good to use with combos but you have complete control where you aim them. (Notice their how their is a disadvantage but also a advantage because of that ability)

Lastly when it comes to countering the jutsu. Now how teachers picture your combos is usually as if the jutsu has already been sent so saying things like:

Yes they work but it will not always be the case like that so you need to be able to counter it as if it was already sent, though its not bad to mention that aspect saying because of the hand seals you can counter before he completes them but it is not what we look at, you are not simulating a battle situation, and that is what teachers what you to try to do and how they want to teach as if you were in battle. Remember when we were talking about how disadvantages work? Those are usually what a person will look at when trying to counter the jutsu, so lets say the opponent sends a lightning blade towards you as a projectile attack, this is what is acceptable.

So using those disadvantages you listen can be used to make the proper counter towards the jutsu so remember that.

Lastly it is the type of counters we want to see. When it comes to countering a jutsu we don't want you just to stop the jutsu, we want you to turn the table and go on the offense so to impress try to add ways to not only defend but attack as well. Also try not to spam the same counter over and over, what I mean by that is if the opponent sends a lightning attack don't just say:

That is far to generic, yes some techs are more straightforward then others but those should be the ones you can formulate better counters with, its okay to experiment and say something new or outside the box, that is what teachers want to see and what they expect. So instead of using a wind jutsu, why not use a water pillar to launch you in the air and then send a attack to go on the quick offense? Simple yes, but at least it is not generic and overdone.

So that is the basis of everything, all in all try to have fun and be creative with it, this is meant for enjoyment as well as a learning experience.

( Raiton: Raigeki) - Lightning Release: Electric Attack

Description: After performing the required hand seals Tiger → Snake → Dog the user creates an electric current from their hand that can hit multiple individuals at the same time. Furthermore, it extends into incredible distances and can avoid obstacles.

After performing some hand seals the user will gather raiton chakra on their hands and send a electric current from the hand which can attack several different targets of your choosing. Now its very handy because how far it can travel, it also has the ability to avoid obstacles that is covering your opponent. Its a streaming type technique so you will have to keep releasing it and focus on the technique for it travel, dodge, and hit the opponent. Overall its a great finishing combo technique and can really force the opponent to have to try and evade. Simple to counter as well with wind jutsu.

Perform the technique: I performed the three hand seals: Tiger -> Snake -> Dog -> then began pooling chakra from my core. As the chakra flowed through my body I focused on the quick moving, unpredictably vibrating nature of Raiton. It buzzed through my channels. Then I focused on bringing this 'electric feel' towards my arms, then my wrists, then my palms. Then, as I felt it crackle and fizz at my finger tips I released it in a continuous stream towards a training dummy, dodging various small objects in its path. It hit the dummy eventually causing it to shake wildly as the current ran through it.

Creative uses/strengths: Easy to perform with mildly favored effects. Excellent in forcing the opponent to retreat, meaning if he is low on chakra or in a sticky situation. He would rather avoid negating it and just evading which opens up more opportunities for the user. Effective up to long range meaning a pursuit is possible with this technique, seeing its a stream type too. This could be used in conjunction to an aerial attack, forcing the opponent try and avoid attacks from above and below, and the ability to maneuver around
objects is particularly interesting.

Drawbacks/counters: Requires contact with user seeing its a stream type. Requires focus and the use of an hand, this bad as the opponent has the opponent to counter attack as the user wont be able to form hand seals as long as he is focusing on the jutsu. Can be countered by releasing a fuuton type jutsu along the ground or dismantling the earth itself. Causing the jutsu to go in undesired directions.

Just one thing to point out; your description makes me think that you think it travels through the earth. It's a stream of lightning that flies through the air, just to clarify.

(Raiton: Jibashi) - Lightning Release: Electromagnetic Murder
Rank: C

Range: Short

Damage Points: 30 (+5 if used in conjunction with a water jutsu)
Description: This jutsu allows the user to create a wave of electricity from the user's hands. This jutsu can vary in power from a small surge to shock an opponent to a powerful stream of lightning capable of ripping through solid rock. It is ideal to use in conjunction with a water jutsu.

Okay a very simple technique, the user will send a wave of raiton energy from their hands towards the opponent. Depending on how the user uses the technique it can be a stream or a projectile technique. Now it is very simply nothing much to it, its straightforward and moves normal speed. Its best to use with a water technique to give it a more potential attack. Its fast to perform as well. I recommend using this as a projectile technique so you can send one attack after the other to make it harder on the opponent. Now due to it being a straightforward technique evasion is simple as well as blocking. You can use a wind technique to negate. Also with lightning properties if contacted with it, the opponent will be shocked.

Description: By gathering chakra in their hands, the user can create a ball of electrical energy and launch it at the enemy.

The user will gather lightning on the palm of their hand, condense it into a electrical ball of energy. The user will then proceed to throw it towards the opponent. It travels very fast to an opponent, its a projectile and its fast to make. You can aim it anywhere as well as use it in combo attacks. A very simple and straightforward technique you can easily just evade or overpower it.

Perform the technique: Harvesting my chakra I quickly converted it into Raiton and channeled it to my arms then my palms. After charging the volatile chakra nature to adequate levels I released it in a short burst of electricity which branched out slightly due to the unstable nature of Raiton. It slammed into the dummy leaving burn marks and a static charge.

Creative uses/strengths: In use with a suitable water jutsu or source you could increase, range of this jutsu. And the ability to switch between stream type and projectile type is especially helpful. One could cover the entire field in water and have this jutsu affect everything in contact with the water, which is useful against multiple or just one, enigmatic enemy.

Drawbacks/counters: Too weak to be considered highly dangerous. Without water, travelling at normal speed leaves it useless to quick shonobi who would ,make a routine out of dodging it. Could be more potent, with harsher side effects. Good enough for a C ranked I guess.

(Raiton: Raikyu) - Lightning Release: Lightning Ball
Perform the technique: Pooling my Raiton chakra in my dominant hand, the right I began concentrating on compressing it into a dense ball of Raiton chakra. Once I felt my hand drop from the weight of this newly concentrated jutsu I threw it at the training dummy. To my surprise the ball flew with such velocity it tore the arm clean off the dummy.

Creative uses/strengths: It can be used as a surprise attack and a gauging attack. Surprise: Opponent fires a fireball, you counter with a water wall. Steam ensues from the neutral encounter, using the steam as cover toss at least two of these balls. It would be sure to catch the opponent off guard. Gauging: To test the opponent speed, skill, and physical signatures (how they move overall). Perfect for assessing a first time encounter. Plus, it is formed and tossed fast.

Drawbacks/counters: Again, too weak. But, on the contrary it is very useful for a C ranked. Easily
countered/overpowered. Overall not too shabby of a C ranked Raiton tech, very few drawbacks compared to advantages.
