As inaccurate as filler may be at times it's always based on some truth. That being said, I find it kind of interesting that in the new Naruto game, the cutscenes between Itachi and Shisui depicts Shisui as stronger than Itachi. Itachi was praised as this god, but compared to Shisui, a man who already had the Mangekyo, Itachi wasn't much.
Shisui was older, had the Mangekyo, dreamed of peace, and wanted to prevent the coup just as Itachi did.
He was also the fastest Uchiha and had a moniker (Shisui, The Teleporter) that other villages took heed to and had the most powerful Genjutsu
