I don't get your point. The match started, shino didn't have insects prepped and he got attack directly and fu@ked up. It was only after that he had enough time to encircle his opponent (it was a very small ring mind you) then order them to block the enemies wind arms. The point is that someone with a strong attack could do exactly that at the very start of the battle and kill or incapacitate shino right then and there.

I'm in no way shape or form disagreeing with you since the middle rankings are a super grey area, but how does Shino beat Kiba given that -

• Fang-over-fang is taijutsu based and not ninjutsu
• Kiba can tell where all the bugs are as well as which is the original shino with his sense of smell
• Fang-over fang includes akamaru as well so he has to block two attacks
• The rotation would likely kill the bugs on contact
• In dire situations Kiba can go double headed wold which doesn't even have to hit to slice things to pieces

Sure they both know each others battle strategies, but Shino doesn't have much to counter direct taijutsu attacks, except insect clone which is a non-issue anyway. Anyway it is highly debatable who is actually better....

ur right the middle area is a grey area in fact i would actually rate shino rather low but when it comes to the konoha 11 the rankings will always fluctuate but yes i agree kiba >shino

It's a filler episode, but the newest episode of naruto shows what Rock Lee is capable of. Shino couldn't beat that.
Chouji wins with his butterfly mode, without it he loses.
Shino has bugs that are odorless, so Kiba wouldn't smell them. Other than that, Kiba has speed, so it could go either way.
Hinata and Neji win this with the byakugan.
Shikamaru and Shino are the same type of fighters, they both do best in the shadows and are analytical thinkers, but Shikamaru wins this because he's smarter.
Tenten hasn't really shown what she could do, without the sages weapon. I can't see her winning.
Shino needs to be distracted in order for Ino to use her mind transfer jutsu, but Shino is the second smartest thinker among K11, so that would be kind of hard.
Shino has shown in the anime to have trained better in taijutsu, so he could easily come up with a strategy for her.
Naruto is too powerful for Shino.

shino is a long range fighter, remember shino vs kankuro

long range alone will beat sakura, neji, hinata and kiba because they cant get close to hit shino while shino can just keep his distance and surround them

ten ten cant do anythin, she can throw kunai but shino will surround her with bugs like he did to obito and she will be finished

ino is needs no explaination

shikamaru is a close/med range fighter and shino is a little intelligent too, but again shikamaru will get surrounded by bugs
shikamaru isnt a fighter

like i said rock lee, sai and MAYBE choji are the only ones that can beat shino

i agree, he's probably the second smartest of the k11 after shikamaru (maybe neji can give him a run for his money). i think neji would be a bad match for him with his kaiten and taijutsu specialities, but i'm sure he can beat the rest of the k11. lee and chouji are strong, but dumb and only good at taijutsu, which means that shino can easily use smokebombs, bug clones and his bugs to misdirect them while the bugs are eating at their chakra. same with sakura and hinata who hasn't shown kaiten yet. shikamaru is smart but has poor stamina, and shino is great at long-range battles. surely i don't have to argue for ino. kiba is fast and strong, but also dumb. and shino is no slouch, he can take a few hits. Sai is the tough one, not sure how his paintings would fare against the bugs.

Any Chakra leech fears going against a sage. The sage lets you (or your bugs or your sword or whatever) absorb nature energy and BAM your a toad statue. Pain found that out the hard way, and Kisame knew to give Jiraya a wide berth for just such a reason.

And the bug clone would also be instantly differentitated by the sage. The bugs are useless to Shino against any sage, Naruto included. So Naruto can sense the bugs to avoid them, or allow them to hit him and take on nature energy and get stoned... either way the bugs are neutralized.

And the reason for the under rating of Shino is that Naruto is very nearly the narrator of the series. Naruto has his mental faculties stretched to even remember Shino's name (an obvious running joke, and Shino plays it up for laughs too). If Shino showcased his skills like Konohamaru gets to then Naruto might remember him and the running joke goes away.

Sorry to the Shino fans, but his place is second banana and a running joke. That Shino actually is competent and would outclass so many of the more visible ninja peers in his village make the joke even more comical. lol
