Here is a theory about Shikamaru. Have you ever wondered, why Tobi says: "It's unfortunate to have you as an opponent?"

It may be because Shikamaru was able to capture him and stop him from moving or teleporting.

But I have another theory that relates to the Nara clan generally. It's about their secret ability: genjutsu resistance!

A couple of pointers:
1) During Orochimaru's invasion of Konoha, Sound ninja cast a genjutsu over the spectators in the arena. A couple of shinobi were unaffected, including Shikamaru!

2) When Shikamaru lured Hidan to the Nara forest, he said that "nobody ever comes to this place". The deer that joined him looked at Hidan with strange eyes. Why shouldn't anyone be able to go to the part of the forest where Rikumaru deer live? My theory is that there is a simple reason: these deer are able to cast genjutsu. This forest may be the one that Naruto and Jiraya sought in order to train Naruto to resist genjutsu: a place with a natural genjutsu ability. The Nara clan are the only people able to resist this genjutsu!

If my theory is right, we are going to see much more of Shikamaru. Not only is he able to capture Tobi or Madara, but also to withstand their genjutsu.

What do you think??

Why would this even matter? I dont think this is really true, but even if it was, so what?
It's weird that you say that. Aren't the strongest opponents (Madara/Tobi and Sasuke) Sharingan users? Isn't genjutsu one of their strongest weapons?

Genjutsu resistance is crucial in this fight. A genjutsu-resistant shinobi is also a crucial team member: he can stop the genjutsu that's put on any other team member.

So, if you think that this doesn't matter, I guess you should just think again :flaw:
