He would be great if he had something like this... Bringer-of-Darkness Technique but not an illusion, but rather create darkness around him and his opponent giving his shadow jutsu a great advantage in reach, strength and versatility.

Not really because the darkness would be limited, it would only cover a small area... and the victim could escape it if he is fast enough and Shikamaru doesn't have the chance to bind him with his shadow jutsu.
And also it would consume high amounts of chakra... so he wouldn't be able to sustain it for so long, and only use it like 1 time per fight...

Shikamaru can improve his stamina/chakra levels. Kakashi went from being down for a couple days after using sharingan for a short period of time to fighting in a war with it activated the entire time(and still going). Shikamaru can do something similar.

I look forward to Shikamaru improving.

No, it's just him controlling his shadow.

I knw he is controlling it -.- i mean if he makes them come off the ground like we have seen, would they cast a shadow of their own by disrupting the light flow?

No, they don't. Which is why I said it's just him controlling his shadow. It doesn't create other shadows.
