Difference is that Kakuzu and Hidan did not have full intel when it comes to shadow shuriken technique. Hinata has full intel and won't be caught off guard. Though with extended shadows, I do find it hard for Hinata to close the distance because if she tries to, the shadow will capture her. A vacuum palm doesn't have the same range as Shikamaru's shadows.

Even then she'd have to figure out the rate of how much shadow shikamaru gains as the sun drops, and constantly change her plans accordingly. Not to mention that in it of itself is a step shikamaru is well aware of and can be used to condition her reactions like he did temari.

I'm aware of that but Hinata can see where his shadows are at all times and can outright dodge them. If her calculations are wrong, she'll see the shadow approach her allowing her to dodge much like how Temari avoided the shadow
