Shikamaru and Sakura: Rivals?

sakuras intelligence is memorization and comprehension, shikamaru is skilled in battle tactics and foresight. theyre both different feats and arent directly comparable
also, kakashi saying sakura is the brightest in the village doesnt actually make her that. on the spot compliments dont equate to irrevocable facts. kind of like how minato is renowned as the fastest ninja to have existed but theres plenty of feats showing other ninjas out pacing him.
and sakura wasnt the only one able to answer the jonin question on the test, in the scan you posted she only said she was one of the few capable of answering it
and finally shikamarus facial expression in the last scan seems more like hes holding his tongue out of respect towards his friends emotions rather than fear.
i think your just romanticizing the idea of them being rivals and forcing the parallel in your head, especially considering most of your examples behind it are just skewed perceptions of some pretty one dimensional scans

i also forgot to mention, shikamarus academy grades were low not because he wasnt book smart but because he was lazy/didnt care enough to try hard

Sakura foresight ability in part 1 was said to be more advanced than 2 tomoe Sasuke's, and has soon such in the Sasori fight.
Shikamaru is simular, but he lacks the reflexes to react, Sakura doesn't. Shika is more Statitistics planning for everything, Sakura think along the line of probability, and ends up controlling her opponents attacks

Not trying to bash sakura or anything but if she was even half as intelligent and wise as Shika then someone needs to explain wat happend in this scan where she literally held the faith of the NV in her hands. Was it fear or wat?
Meanwhile i noticed that u excluded Shika's stunning War Arc feats which at one point he was able to buy enough time to save the alliance before the Kages came.

Unless it's Konoha Hiden then those characters haven't met in either of their standalone novels. I...think that is a little ridiculous though, even as a comedy punchline. It's like somebody miraculously being able to outrace Rock Lee in a 'stand on your arms and do 5 laps around the village' contest it's so specific.

Every time I've heard about Sakura beating shika in this shogi match in one of the novels is just that, one time. And the people that mention it don't mention anything else, like how many times she played him before she won. If you play someone a hundred times your bound to win eventually, especially seeing as how she does seem to be some kind of smart(I still wouldn't put her close to shikas level though)

Oh she's definitely intelligent, but that doesn't mean you can instantly beat a strategist whose brain is literally a computer for playing shogi haha
Sakura would never be capable of doing Shikamaru's Kage duties or War planning and I doubt Shikamaru could pick up medical specialist either, different kinds of intelligence.
Honestly, I don't really care if she is smarter than him, or not; I just wrote that as maybe.
Shikamaru, while one of most developed K11 (or was it K10?), was never much of an interesting character to me, I was never really impressed by his intellect, and his overall design was just boring, not to mention his hairstyle that I expected to change through part 2.

I don't believe that you think this is why Shikamaru has his eyes closed. Nobody is that stupid and you know it.
