Shikamaru has good tactics and his jutsu makes it hard for someone to get close. Shadow possession can even creep underground. I think it's possible he beats Hinata and maybe beats Neji. The only reason he might not beat Neji because Neji has a brain. What do you guys think

I think put in the same age group, (pts vs pts, war arc vs war arc etc) shika takes hina mid diff every time. Neji? Nah, the only way this MIGHT be possible is shippuden shika vs pt 1 neji... And that's a maybe, neji can actually fight, and he's f cking fast. So if he doesn't give shika time to think it's over

Oh yeah Neji is pretty damn fast but he wouldn't want to get caught in shikas shadow possession. I think the terrAin matters because shika can be very good at hiding.
Depens on the tine of day. The evening is typically the best for a shadow cast. Hey even boruto got close to shikidai and got stopped the second he raised his fist :lmao:
Lmao why I never even thought of that. That is true but the byakugan can probably still see it

I am sure that neji can use his chakra to break Shadow possession

There needs to be a light source in the evening/night to cast shadows right?

My take on this though is that with Hyuga skillset, A Nara fighting one could be tough. With Intel, the byakugan negates every trick Shikamaru might have that includes surprising/catching off guard and the fact Hyuga style taijutsu is based on avoiding/evading at close range + Shikamaru's static position of using the shadow bind...He gives them the advantage of closing the gap and if they close the gap enough to put him in the range of 64 palms, he's done for as 64 palms is a nigh instant combo attack.

Also OP has a knack of making threads that are opposite of what he means..so, I'm confused on what he really supports here?

Another also is I assume OP means to say Hinata doesn't have a brain? The Databook doesn't support that though as up until DB2, Hinata and Neji had the same stat in intelligence with Hinata's surpassing Neji's in DB3.

So then it's a 50-50 in close combat? Shadow possession has many forms. Temari wanted to keep her distance and shikamaru has many tricks to think its okay to come close when it's not.

Hinata lacks battle genius Neji possesses. Hinata good support ninja

Let's say he has a decent light source. His range is decent with his shadows. He can come up both sides and the middle with them. So if nejis sees them from sides he has to jump and shika can get him with the shadow in the middle. Granted neji can easily avoid this particular scenario but unless neji blitzes shika has a serious shot. And all he really has to do is observe how neji moves and get him
To move where he wants him to, like he did with temari

Hinata would be outsmarted by Shikamaru, the fact that he trapped Momoshiki in his Jutsu for a second solidifies his win against Hinata but Neji on the other hand is in a diffrent Leauge then Hinata.

This is logic. Even if hina and neji have similar intelligence as per databook. Nejis Battle experience and tactics are on a whole other level then hinatas
