Keep in mind that this technique can go in Mid-range too, so over 5 meters.

The next one is a bit harder, as it requires for you to be more concentrated on channeling your chakra properly.

Channel your lightning chakra into a layer around your body, then release the lightning, creating an armor. After it has been released, keep infusing chakra into it so it doesn't backfire(so it doesn't electrocute you) and/or disspell.

shig i had a question...i asked caliburn but he was a bit confused too...some jutsus like

(Raiton: Chidori Jinrai) – Lightning Release: 1000 birds ThunderClap.

Um, well yes you can in my opinion, because even if it is long-range only, it will travel first Short-Mid, and if it hits the opponent within that range the technique stops and discharges.

Good; now try keeping it activated for a 2 minutes.

as you say sensei...btw cali said that for some jutsus if they are used in short range..but are long range they will damage the user too...xd i was confused which those jutsus would be...

Well, he's right, because the jutsu might "backfire".

The next one shall be slightly harder. Begin charging lightning chakra, and release it's essence into the nearby clouds, when the essence reaches release the charge and shoot two lightning bolts at the trees to your right.

This might take a bit of practice.

For the next one, put your palms together, and begin charging lightning chakra around them, until it begins crackling, then hit your palms to the ground and send an electrical current towards that tree over there.
