[Discussion] Shanks vs Newgate

So, iv heard a few people say they think Shanks was actually stronger than Newgate back at MF. What are your thoughts on this?
Who would win between MF Newgate and MF Shanks. (Bare in mind this is when Newgate first showed up so no injuries whatsoever apart from his ''illness'')

we don't know Shanks' powers, beside Haki;

but the fact that losing his arm had no effect on his battle power (can't remember who said it) should be a hint.

Since you said no injuries, I would say WB on extreme high-diff. If it's post-squardo attack then it will be Shanks.

At MF, Newgate was dying -_-

Shanks could have soloed him, but if both in prime, its hard to say who wins.

I would lean more towards Newgate if both were in prime, but thats not a definite answer from my side.

Shanks will win. Whitebeard is tougher but Shanks is stronger overall. Age and illnesses really toned down Whitebeard's reflexes.

Yup pretty much this. Akainu already exposed WB during MF.

However, when you call your moustache a beard and no one complains, then know you are an extreme badass

Hard to say since we haven't seen Shanks do anything but i think logically Shanks should be stronger since he's supposed to be Luffy's final opponent (i know it'll end up being BB). I can't really see Luffy's final opponent losing to an old washed up ill Whitebeard.

For now i'd probably have to say WB extreme-diff but once Shanks starts showing some feats i'll go with Shanks>Old WB High-diff. And i say High-diff because i believe that OP characters will go through a huge power boost.
