This is one of the most heated debates in the OP section of nb. Someone should just send in an SBS to Oda and ask, "Who's stronger, Shanks or Mihawk?". lolll

Going with Mihawk. Not using any assumptions for this tho, just the manga fact that Mihawk is now the World's Strongest swordsman. A swordsmans remains a swordsman in the end even if he incorporates strong haki with his swordsmanship (like Shanks, or zoro, vista, or Rayleigh). That thing alone is a confirmation of Mihawk being superior to Shanks in terms of strength.

Manga never implied that they were matched.Only thing that was mentioned in manga is that they used to fight eachother.By no means it indicates that they were evenly matched.

OT:Shanks wouldn't have fought with them even if they kill Luffy & I belive that Shanks is superior to Mihawk.

Shanks is an experience warrior , he would channel his rage into power

When a greater adversary raises his sword it's only natural that the weaker one turns his back....Jk lol. It would've been a long fight but Shanks would've won. Extreme-diff.

Shanks vs Mihawk threads should be banned. They attract the biggest fanboys.

Oda just need to let us see a past battle or just do a battle of the world strongest swordmen now

Shanks, high-diff. Just cause Mihawk and Shanks has daily duels back in the day is irrelevant to scale them together right now. IMO, Pure Haki > Swordsmanship and I'm pretty sure Shanks is superior than Mihawk in haki.

Shanks I believe is more superior but who knows mihawk might have conquers haki too

I have shanks beating mihawk mild difficulty for now until we see more from mihawk. I really hate to rank mihawk anywhere though because we haven't seen his full potential.

they were matched as swordsman, key word, swordsman, doesnt mean shanks cant beat him in an all out fight

Shanks is a rival swordsman who lost one of his arms a decade ago and Mihawk received his title during this decade. Until proven wrong, Mihawk should be the stronger one because he has superior hype and feats

Yonko > Shichibukai

Based on what? To become a yonkou you must possess a lot of territories in the new world and a crew with a lot of allies. Mihawk is a lone wolf not interested in conquetes. It's for that reason he isn't a yonkou. Shichibukai title itself is meaningless considering there are shichibukais far stronger thant he others(Buggy is nowhere near the others let alone Mihawk)

Elite Haki > Swordsmanship

Pretty sure Mihawk's armament haki is one of the best in this manga. To have reached the top without his blade breaking even once, he must possess elite armament haki. Not to mention, he trained Zoro into making armament his speciality. Armament is a supplementary move in swordsmanship. Mihawk isn't losing to a fellow swordsman because of haki

but shanks is a yonko and mihawk isnt. altho he doesnt have a crew.
