Yeah I actually thought about that too. But as of now I guess not. I feel like theres a loophole when it comes to that though... When Naruto was learning Sage mode if one clone turned into a frog then he would too. But the 3rd used clones and the DDS and he didn't die.

i think even if a shadow clone used it, the shinobi would still die. the third only used the technique one time, but it was used through each of his clones.

once it ended, the third died. I am pretty sure that he only didn't die after the first one because he was trying to keep the jutsu active for as long as possible in an attempt to kill orichimaru.

The user will still die, if used like Sandaime did. However, I believe that if you make a Shadow Clone FIRST, then the CLONE does the Shinigami Jutsu, THEN only the clone would die. However, I don't think it would be possible for a mere clone to pull off such a high-class jutsu.
