Hey just started photoshop and i cant shade for crap lol, could anyone help, and u make a new layer for shading aswell right? ive used the tuts but they don't say much about shading, is it just free-hand?

it mostly what you think it should be. there can not be any tuts, cause every pic is different. What i can tell you is the 3 ways to shade...

1. Easy way: use burn and dodge tools to shade. (dosn't come out too well, but still looks fine)

2. Moderatly Hard Way: get a shade color, and just color the shaded parts with solid brushes to make solid shade lines. (looks more anime-ish)

3. Hard Way: Color the shaded areas with the shade color you want to use. Then use a soft smudge tool to smudge all the colors together the right way. (this looks more realistic)

Remember, when you shade, make sure you know if it is a day time scene or night time, and always know where your light source it so that you can shade accordingly. Also, make sure all the colors match eachother (ex, if it is a night scene, make sure the skin colors are darker than normal)

But remember, even if u mess up on shading, it never looks bad. People just assume that is how it was intended.

I'm doing with 2nd way XD I'm not ready for 3rd LOL :D
