For awhile now people have been complaining about naruto being sexist because of a lack of strong female roles and over abundace of stronger to OP ale characters and ninja. I agreed with this and even had long discussions explaining that I thought it is sexist as well, but I recently came upon this thread:

This may explain it right here.....kishi isn't sexist he just has a hard time drawing girls so that's probably why there are more men and more of them as main characters, because he would want to make sure the main or most important characters were good drawings and he has no confidence in his female drawing prowess.

I'm going to choke ItachiSan and Son of Odin! :D

Also, Kishi suggested that he wasn't good at drawing girls or understanding them at that emotional level. He even went as far to get help because he was confused. I think draws girl pretty good, for not understand their kind.

That's probably it..I mean, have you ever tried drawing a female that actually looked cute, or something? It takes a lot of work, getting the proportions right and etc. x.x;; They are harder to draw than males, in my opinion.

Then explain this.

"Above all you're a weak women." Kishi wrote that himself

Madara was the one who said that. Characters can have a different opinion than the author himself about certain things.
It's not because a character says something, that the author agrees with that. He or she just portrays different opinions. If all characters said the same thing and did the same thing, that would be boring.
For example: the book Lolita. The author of it doesn't approve of men have sexual relationships with young girls, around twelve years old, that's just the character who likes young girls.
It's dangerous and quite wrong to immediately assume that a character's opinion about something is the same as that of the author.
OT: well, Kishimoto-sensei himself has admitted that he sucks at drawing girls. He's not sexistic, he's just not good at portraying girls *shrugs* At least I don't find anything sexistic in Naruto

Naruto wouldnt be allowed to be an anime think about it a bunch of dudes beating on women every couple episodes plus if he adds more main female roles people would want a little more romance and blah blah

Dude this is just one many examples. Sexism has been brought up many times in the manga. Including Shikamaru, Kakashi, Sasuke and more. Guys are typically sexist towards women. Shi even I can be at times. It's just nature and frankly idgaf

Again, opinions of characters don't always equal those of the author or mangaka in this case.
I don't consider Kishimoto-sensei a sexist; even though he sucks at drawing girls, he still made awesome characters like Temari, Tsunade and Mei.

Women are trash that any man can throw in this manga that's for sure. The only guys that treat their women like queens. Are the following gentlemen: Minato and Hashirama.

In the Anime when Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi and Temari were handing to the Sand Village, Kakashi told Sakura not to eat the military ration pills but Sakura got mad and ignored him. Then Temari commented inside her head that Kakashi is sexually harassing Sakura. That scene was pretty funny but I didn't understand what Kakashi said which was sexist towards Temari and Sakura.
