humans being evil or good doesn't exist in human nature.

Humans undergo changes based on their experiences which makes them choose the path in life. With the exception of mentally insane ppl when they do evil acts its because they don't what they are doing.

In the series so far the juubi can represent fairy tale pure evil that as apparently its depicted as mindless killing machine a bit like insanity.

Orochimaru is pure evil, tragic past we know nothing about or not...

i agree with this ^^, orochimaru is a major league bad ass of a villain and he is pure EVIL .... or at least he is the closest thing we will get to a pure evil villain. i don't really care about what caused him to be bad as long as he dies as an evil selfish creepy bad ass (never turn good oro never .... you are our last hope) and i don't wana see oro going "well i wanted to do all of this to achieve true peace" that would SOC :(

sometimes it's needed, the series is overloaded with emotions. seriously, if i hear about one more character being too emotional (full of love), i will ........................ thank god for oro, someone who is selfish and sick simply because thats the way he is and he is cool like that (can you imagine a nice oro ..... that would be an outrage)

both his parents died when he was just a child, he was also very lonely. He is actually a sociopath and probably a psycopath :)

tragic enough?

Seriously, most of the "bad" guys in Naruto have some tragic past that led them to become "evil", even Orochimaru. That, or they were being used by the bad guy.

The same thing happened to Tobi/Obito, and now its going to happen to Madara again.....

Err.. That is the story in Naruto...

If you do not like it, not sure why you read it and then make useless threads.

Yet again, i think the Manga is 100% fine the way it is. I find it weird how you read it and have over 2k posts on a Naruto forum when you think the series is overloaded with emotions (which i assume you think is a bad thing from what else you wrote)

No one is born evil. We are all born as cute little babies who only want love and care. Evil guys usually have a sad past, compounded by personality traits that lead them to a bad path. There was once a study (I think in Hawaii) that assessed at risk kids at different ages, to see who turned to crime or delinquency and who succeeded to become a productive and law abiding adult. The key factor was whether they had an adult who really cared for them during their formative years - whether parent, neighbor, teacher, anyone. I think Kishimoto may have modeled his characters' choices somewhat based on that concept, whether he was aware of the study or not.

LMFAO!!! a while back i made a thread very similar to this one and i got bashed by fanboys like there was no tomorrow. im glad ive read a few posts in this thread by people who are not fanboys and also think that kishi should not make everyone be a "good guy" at the end.

And to actually contribute to the topic, I believe "pure evil" characters are very realistic and necessary. personally, i believe that with pain comes humility. and people who have never been humbled are the ones that inflict pain on other people because they have never felt that pain before. these are people who are evil and are IMO more common that the people who do evil deeds out of resentment for bad things that happen to them.

I dunno. I find Oro quite evil. Plus alot of the akatsuki didn't get a sad background. Deidara, Hidan and Kisame were just 100% mean.

The main villains all have a sad background because they are from the same clan. It's an interesting story btw. I love it.

Whether or not someones past was bad, if they are evil, they are evil. They may not be *pure* evil and have at least some goodness in them but someone who lets the bad control them is evil.

It's hard to find someone who is legitimately 100% pure evil. Even the worst of the worst people have at least a little good in them, though it may not emerge very often

Okay let me elaborate a little bit. Maybe Kishi should have held off on telling small backstories of some of the villains, or give more insight on their personality. For example, Sasori's parents, Nagato's parents and friends....Nagato being used, Kisame dying nobly, Zabuza crying, Kimimaru being used....I mean, to me, a good story has a villain that you just HATE, yet Kishi makes you empathize with almost every villain.

(Although yes I did overlook Hidan, Deidara, and Kakuzu. I like them as villains).

And now you have Obito Dent being manipulated by Madara, because of the death of Rin

And honestly, I liked it better when Itachi was a bad guy. When I thought Itachi kept Sasuke alive just to obtain EMS, I was HOLY SH*T this guy is evil.....but even that turned out to be a farce.

How else would you expect them to become evil? Would you prefer a psychopath killer that does not feel remorse or guilt and kills for the joy of it? That would suck. The reader would be left with an impression that the villain doesn't really have a motive and therefore Kishi can't really develop much a plot around such a character.

Hidan is Pure Evil.... I would love to watch him and more Jashin followers like him and Jashin himself in the series.... Just think of it.... Apparently immortal enemies.... Would be fun to see how Naruto deals with them.... :D :D
