Now when I look for a new story to enjoy, I usually head straight for the plot preview and genre (perhaps a few reviews) to see if I like it. At first, some of the overviews sound pretty ridiculous. It makes me wonder how a good story could come from such a theme. Maybe you've even checked a few episodes and hated it at first. But there are also many times that an anime/manga/manhwa or otherwise has soared above and beyond what I thought would come out of it.
I'll name one example: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (TTGL). Now I've seen a lot of dispute about whether part 1 or part 2 was better but as for myself, I really didn't think the beginning episodes were that great. I mean Part 1 still had great moments! But I really liked how they kicked it off with the Time-Skip. The change in atmosphere... it just felt well done. For me, what this show represented was great development. Which is why I might not have liked it at first, but have come to appreciate the series as a whole by the time it was over.
Anybody have their own personal experience?
