Security Key?

I recently got my new laptop but the thing is i dont know how get my modem security key ive forgotten it is there anyway i can get it or change it now i cant use it on my new laptop help?

what windows do you have
if you have windows 7 (one that's already connected) you can get the password by going to the properties of your connection and view it
if you don't then you'll have to reset your modem

the modem is connected to my desktop via cables but it can allow wireless too im confused?

Just go into your router and change it to something new

go to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.101 or whatever works for you and change the wireless pass

If he forgot his router pass then he would have to reset his router so he could have the manual pass?
