Okay everyone needs to really study politics and history before they go overreacting on this. This is actually something that has happened before and very recently multiple times. After the 2004 election yes the one where George Bush was reelected it happened as well as in 2008 when Obama was first elected this happened. Texas has the 15 largest economy in the world. If they were to secede, U.S would be dumb to cancel all relations with them. I'm sure Texas would be fine if they wree to PEACFULLY secede.

But you have to wonder how strong the economy would stay without the helping hand of the US in terms of alliances, trade agreements, etc. Not to mention they would have to come up with a constitution, elect new government officials, new security forces, create a military, secure its own borders, etc.

Its not like they can secede and keep going on with every day life.
