School Competition,Need moral support NB.

hey yea im a vocalist and im taking part in an individual singing competition which is about a month away.im gonna perform ''my immortal''(yes that girl song,no its not gay-.-).im tense.very tense.im fairly good at singing.seriously.one of my FAILED recordings are in the sig below.anyway,its my dream to perform that song(my immortal).i have performed a song before,at a 800 person gig,in school(this is also a school gig but with less a crowd.),but that was backup to the song in the sig below.this will be my FIRST moment and i need to pull this off.i have very low self esteem and i need this soooooo bad.This thing is a competition and i want to take a place,it has 3 rounds and 1st,2nd,3rd positions..3 of my friends are also bada$$ singers and their taking part,they even know musical instruments.its a competition so i have to beat them.i signed up today and already one of my friends who plays the electric guitar is discouraging me and hes saying i wont be successful in my goal.thats getting to me so...im feeling down now :/ any suggestions?

nah, sing ur heart out, remember all the autotune maniacs who are currently in mainstream and remember why ur voice is a gift mate! go for it!

Tips:

1. Never sing when you're mad.
2. Stressed out? Breathe more!
3. Eating dairy or chocolate before you sing will diminish your range.
4. Never sing without first warming up.
5. Turn lemons into Lemon-Aid. The acidic qualities of lemons will not only give you a purse to your pucker, but clean your throat of unwanted mucus residue. Yummy! Plus, think of the lemony-fresh breathe you'll have when singing close to your favorite harmony partner. Lemonade will not work here; just a fresh-cut wedge of lemon. A glass of water will assist in washing the tartness away.

Just trust in your skills and go out there and do it.
Oh and don't picture any of the audience naked it may give you a stiffy. (It happened to me).
Honestly there is nothing that will prepare you better to be on stage than confidence in your self.
And if you think it's hard to get on a stage and sing when you have the skills to do so. Try being me and get into a ring with another dude ready to beat your ass, and tell me how stressed out you are that a whole bunch of people are watching you. I have had so much momemts like that it's not even funny anymore, and the only thing that get's me through a match anymore is knowing that I spent years training to be there.
