No matter what Kishimoto does for his pairings, he can no longer surprise me. I wouldn't even be surprised to see TenTen dating Rock Lee while banging Hiashi behind the scenes.

Do they really need to make a Shikamaru novel? It appears that it's going to be him against some other fod. I understand that the author likes Shikamaru but I'm pretty sure his story is done! The Akatsuki needs a novel, the rest of the Konoha11 needs novel work to explain how they've been holding up. Kakashi's novel is going to be about him facing his duties, and Sakura's is gonna be about her parents and love life. See? Where does Shika fit into these since the novels are helping to expand the other characters?? Shikamaru is pretty much done when it comes to character development.
