Its not pointless when you know the truth about how the died. it's like the US Goverment killed your entire family by a key member convincing your brother to do so...You'd wanna kill whosoever organized it all right? Thats what sasuke is trying to do...but he's only looking at it from one side.
Their people in konoha who nothing about this...thats the majority of the population actually. like konohamaru and his friends/iruka for example. Sasuke wants to eradicate the entire village.

Because he thinks they're ungrateful for Itachi's sacrificial deeds, when in reality they didn't know Itachi did all of that stuff. U_U

Not exactly...Sasuke has a phobia for anyone who tries to stand in his way, and does his best to kill them. But he would want to kill them being that they are apart of konoha also. He has Konoha on a whole generalized around :then why he tried to kill kakashi and naruto with sakura

i think what kishi is trying to get across is that because sasuke has been seeking his revenge and he attained it and i dont care if sasuke killed or didnt kill itachi the point is he set to make sure itachi dies which he did so he attained that revenge but because he gave up everything for his revenge he has nothing but hate and its maly because tobi got to him and told the truth so because sasuke knew the truth about itachi his hate couldnt disappear because he killed his brother who actually turned out to not be so evil and that it was all for sasuke so now he still has hate in side him he has to point at somebody and that is the leaf so kishis is basically trying to say not to seek revenge as you will end up with nothing but hate

No it isn't pointless. In the flashback Obito stopped Sasuke from cutting the throats of leaf ninja in the tavern by saying they didn't know they truth. There's going to be more growth in this regard later on because that wasn't random. The main thing is to show how far Sasuke has descended and that he plays out the cycle of his clan.
He feels that the village prospered because his brother sacrificed himself for them and history will remember him as a criminal. To make it worse they are ignorant of Itachi's legacy. Just as Obito told Kakashi he'd destory the ninja system before he left to save Rin, Sasuke is looking to destory the prosperous village that his brother gave himself for since it's prosperity came at Itachi's life/honor.
