Itachi wouldn't be able to do anywhere near as much in this situation. Being the jinchuuriki of the juubi, I doubt Tsukoyomi would work on Madara, as we've seen how jinchuuriki can break out of genjutsu; also I highly doubt Itachi will be able to mess around with Madara's mind without getting mind-smacked round the face by the juubi. The totsuka blade, fair enough, but the susanoo I find to be quite slow and clumsy; Madara as he is now would have no problem dodging it. And as we've seen, Madara's been pretty rekt by Sasuke, so I wouldn't say Itachi is still over Sasuke, as much as I love Itachi.

Sasuke's intelligence is still far worse than Itachi's. He simply has not shown the capacity to think ahead and manipulate his enemy. Sasuke let Madara escape to get his other eye--- this is not a something a wise person would do. Even worse, he gave Madara the time to the eye in his socket and kamui to the other dimension.
I think Itachi and Naruto would have been a better team because Itachi could have Totsuka'd Madara so many times by now with all the opportunities Sausage is giving him.

Itachi may be pretty wise, but that doesn't change the fact that sasuke is almost god-level right now (The reason i say almost god level is because the real one and only God could have destroyed madara at any time. anyways, Sasuke is pretty intelligent himself, and he didn't just let madara slip away. You're forgetting the fact that madara is the ten tails jinchuuriki. He is EXTREMELY fast, but sasuke did manage did catch up. He just didn't imagine that madara would teleport to the kamui dimension.

Nagato+Kabuto=JuubiMadara and Itachi has simply defeated them both. I'm not stating anything but manga facts.
