He was then manipulated by Orochimaru (seriously, it may have eventually evolved into Sasuke only gaining benefits from Orochimaru, but the only reason Sasuke went to Orochimaru was because of the curse seal). And he is now being manipulated by Tobi. Tobi wants the Leaf village gone as much as Sasuke, and he's giving Sasuke the tools and power to make that happen. That is manipulation, my friend.

Because he was the biggest tool on Narutobase- Thoroughly bashing anyone that wasn't in love with Itachi as he was.

Though Itachi is one of my top three favs, he went wayy over the top when it came to describing his abilities.

you are correct sir he did say that, however that doesn't mean that tobi isn't prepared for any backlash from sasuke. at this point i think it's pretty safe to assume that neither trusts the other or has any intention of being manipulated by the other. it really just comes down to who has a better plan
