of course he doesnt need objects to swap with, swapping is just one aspect of his s/t ability. he did the same to kaguya when he ported close to her. he can either shift himself, shift others to him or he can swap with something or someone.

Exactly also everything is limited to range of his sight.

He can not teleport past range of his eye.

Just imagine if he has Byakugan vision along with that left eye... lol teleporting at radius at least 1 km or even further as Hinata's byakugan has wider range of sight.

My first time seeing this scan but it confirms what I've always thought. It was too strange to see Sasuke on multiple occasions switch with nothing. The ones that I remember most was him trying to get to Kaguya with Chidori and then when he swapped Madara directly to him and Naruto. People will continue to downplay Sasuke's S/T but this scan and other feats (including the one from this chapter) prove that Sasuke does not need an object.

Perhaps it's the range. Considering he was still quite away from the portal Obito opened, he had to swap. However, all the times when he used it against someone close-by (Naruto, Kaguya, blitzing Maddie) he didn't have to swap.
