INSANE for thought…
We have seen Sasuke’s persona take a complete change whilst he fought with the Samurai and ever since then it has only worsen. I believe that he is not evil and the reason for this belief is exactly that; the change in chakra that Karin sensed. I believe that it is having a huge role to play with the sudden change he has undergone. Karin stated that his chakra seemed cold and it seems that he is only falling deeper into darkness. To say that he is evil almost doesn’t make sense because whether he wanted to or not he obtained a bond with Taka as he remembered his former team through them and activated an emotional Amaterasu as protection.
To then suddenly turn evil and harm someone he cared about as well as a person who has helped him throughout his journey? His morals/ideals were not at all this way. He could have killed Naruto for the Mangekyou way back when and decided against it. He has tried the best he could to spare the lives he has come in contact with through his path of vengeance. Then now suddenly Kishi has Sasuke harm Karin who he grew to care about and was one who healed him at times (even in his current fight) which doesn’t make a bit of sense. Kishi has stated that Sasuke was going to become more "evil" and I suppose this is what he meant by it.
Although, that doesn’t necessarily mean the actual term evil but instead could possibly mean he is plunging farther into darkness and as he does so will act out as an "evil" person. He currently appears to be evil although it could simply be an illusion created by Kishi to deceive the readers into believing so. I ask everyone to keep an open mind as things may not entirely be as they seem.
Take a few moments and remember why/how he became an avenger in the first place and how that ultimately pushed him into the position he is in now. What developed farther down the line is the Sasuke we have in current manga. It was several influences consisting of Itachi, Orochimaru and Madara. Everything began with the Uchiha clan massacre and Itachi who forced him into becoming an avenger. His intentions might have been good in his opinion but it was a flaw of his and it went out of hand. He trapped him under Tsukuyomi and made sure that he continuously witnessed the massacre and made his famous speech which relentlessly haunted him.
Years later he comes back breaks his wrist puts him through a twenty-four hour Tsukuyomi; once again showing him the tragic scenes of his parents/clan’s massacre which only mentally damaged him farther as it left him in a comatose-like state. His words of still being weak worked on him and helped him to get back on track of revenge. Orochimaru who saw how Sasuke weakened in his path of vengeance decided to brand him with the Ten no Juin so that he would be tempted into more power and seek him out as a result. Later on he sends the Otogakure no Shinobi Yonin Shuu with a bribe to convince Sasuke to join them. Several factors had a role to play in his decision, mainly Naruto’s strength that quickly succeeded his own and his brother’s statement.
Sasuke accepted the bribe as it meant he could achieve his goal faster. After he believed his vendetta was completed it seemed as if he would be able to heal although this did not last long as Madara confessed the tweaked truth which ultimately rekindled the desire for his revenge which turned him into what he currently is. He desired the elimination of Konoha’s higher ups (Danzou/elders). All his decisions since then have been to further his revenge. He was never manipulated but rather being influenced by Madara which becomes evident as he asked Danzou for confirmation.
The fight with Danzou came to a end as Sasuke pierced Danzou’s heart through Karin having a deranged visage as it seemed as though he finally reached his breaking point and in my opinion is the initial reason as to why he did what he did to Karin. Please take a look below:
I think that when Sasuke pierced through them both he honestly lost the last bit of sanity he had left as seen by his expression, which is not of a sane person might I add.
Sasuke did not kill Danzou because he committed suicide via his final Juinjutsu. The real question is if the wound he inflicted upon Karin was intended to kill her. Danzou threw her and walked away when he initiated the juin so she either was sealed along with him or somehow escaped (the wound supposedly being non-fatal). I think that he is not evil but is continuously being consumed by darkness and has had a major mental breakdown. Sasuke’s mentality is now even more shattered than that of Nagato/Madara.
THINK first…
You need to remember that Sasuke is in darkness and has sustained mental damage at several points in the manga so keep this in mind when you all begin to give your statements. Sasuke is not the first or last person out for revenge. Broaden your horizons with different manga and you will come to that same conclusion. I will leave you all with this example: Rurouni Kenshin is a superb reference to this if not better. One character in particular is one to be hated far more than a character like Sasuke; Shinomori Aoshi.
He was defeated by the titular character (Kenshin) and Aoshi’s team were all killed while trying to protect him via a Gatling gun that was fired by the man Aoshi was in partnership with. He then vowed to defeat Kenshin for his title and bring it before his deceased team member’s grave and would kill anyone who prevented him from doing so even his own comrades. I have never seen so much hate for a character like Sasuke but there are worse characters than him in other manga and is why I find the hate to be ridiculous. A powerup is something the Japanese readers embrace and in the U.S. (and other countries) it seems that when Sasuke gets one, the forum is about to collapse. He is not the first or last to get one, Naruto (who learned Sage Mode in how many days compared to Jiraiya who trained with it since a young age and died having yet mastered it) as well as many other characters have.
Sasuke is said by most to never have trained but he does gain experience via his battles. Also he is a main character not the titular so of course there were going to be times where Kishi excluded the scenes where he trained and you would have to take it as elapsed time (for example the taka summoning). Even the Databook states that one of Sasuke’s hobbies is training. The Naruto manga is about Naruto and Sasuke mainly and Naruto Shippuuden’s main plot is Naruto’s journey to bring back his best friend Sasuke.
If Sasuke dies then the plot and Naruto fail. People say that the show should be called Sasuke because he is Kishi’s favorite and Naruto is never shown. Please, to all of those who say/believe this, grow up. Sasuke is only a character that Kishi enjoys the most to draw. Initially Sasuke’s character was thought up by his editors as a rival to Naruto thus giving Kishi the idea of creating Sasuke. His favorite character is Naruto hence the title of the manga and created him in his own image with somewhat of a westerner appearance.
Since Sasuke is a main character and how his story has one of the most compelling and lasting plot is the reason why he is being shown more and more. He has a vengeance that needs attending to and so Kishi will show us major parts of his journey as well as Naruto’s. Besides, what can Naruto do currently even if he was given the screen time? He isn’t strong enough for Madara so what else? I would say that he would simply continue to search for Sasuke or simply train.
If this manga did not have Sasuke and his storyline then it would have been a pretty dull manga in my opinion. Naruto hasn’t been shown for five chapters and people are having tantrums. Kishi in the latest interview has been quoted saying that Naruto is going to train and this year is Kakashi’s. In other words Naruto will be shown a lot again as well as Kakashi, oh what do you know another main character (which is mainly the reason why Kishi chose him to become the substitute Hokage). The final match will most definitely be between Naruto/Sasuke and I’m sure that Sasuke will lose, be turned by the LIGHT and brought back to the village without being tried for anything he has done as Naruto will make it so (hence titular character). In the end Naruto will be the best and Hokage so give it a rest and be patient as the manga WILL turn in Naruto’s favor. (Not saying this to be cruel but rather speaking in a more realistic and clearly manner)
So in conclusion, this entire post for everybody’s information has been solely in my opinion and I always welcome anybody else’s that may come my way.
-Arigatou gozaimashita for your time
EDIT: I edited Sasuke’s Mangekyou not being a powerup due to the observation of other people’s opinions which changed mine but then shouldn’t every kind of ability the shinobi obtains be a "powerup"? Besides his Mangekyou abilities that people spam about have more cons than pros compared to Naruto’s Sage Mode. Its cons consist of his Amaterasu not burning at a fast enough speed and can be avoided, Tsukuyomi not even sure if he has this doujutsu though if he indeed does then it is a shadow of his brothers and Susano’o which does not contain the Totsuka no Tsurugi/Yata no Kagami but rather bow/arrows and it sustained a gap as Sasuke was caught off guard. It will also begin to fade if the strain upon the user proves to be too much and the user can even die with extended use. Without the Eternal Mangekyou then it is just a matter of time before you go completely blind via the continuous activation of it.
Naruto’s Sage Mode is a powerup as well and has more pros than cons where Sasuke’s Mangekyou stands. The pros consist of the user's physical strength, speed, stamina and their durability drastically increases. Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu become very powerful. They can have the natural energy that surrounds them become an extension of their body, increasing the reach of their attacks. Gains the ability to sense the chakra around them and they do not feel pain against physical damage. The only cons are the time is limited, in order to activate it the user must remain perfectly still, after usage they feel exhaustion though through Senpou: Ryousei no Jutsu a Sage may be able to gather chakra for another.
Naruto however was even able to bypass this with the usage of his Kage bunshin which contained extra Sage chakra when he needed it. Only downside was that the clones where kept minimal. Naruto even briefly fused the Kyuubi chakra with Sage chakra. I have observed people saying that Sasuke was gifted with intelligence or even born with it and that is ridiculous. The third Databook even scores him in intelligence with a three point five out of a possible five. He only became a genius through studying really hard and what fueled this in him was the desire to defeat his brother.
I have also seen people say that Sasuke seems to never run out of chakra but if you think about it, the logic for this is that his chakra reserves have simply increased and he isn’t the only one who contains a large reserve as Karin stated that the Raikage’s chakra matched that of a bijuu. Karin has several times in his fights restored his chakra reserves. I’ve seen complaints about his spam usage of Amaterasu but think about this, why hasn’t anybody ever complained about Itachi when he spammed his Amaterasu when he continuously activated it against Sasuke leaving a vast trail that quickly spread out and began to consume a nearby forest. How much chakra did Itachi have then? Sasuke is not KAMI and there is an explanation for everything about him if you just look close enough.
