..So, Naruto is tethered to Konoha, but Sasuke is operating on a global level...

...the kages rely on HIM for intel and orders bc he's doing all the heavy lifting...

...in a way, this elevates Sasuke above Naruto.

So everyone's guards are down thinking the greatest threat to mankind had been dealt with.

If it wasn't for Sasuke's analyitcal nature and instincts, he would've returned to the vilage fcking around while Shin and them plot to exact even greater calamity on mankind than Kaguya would've brought.

His investigations and hypothesis has positioned the kages to put together a game plan to responding to this threat. Instead of being caught off guard, they can now be pro-active in developing their weaponry and jutsus, building better shelters to protect the ppl, etc.

We don't yet know the details of what lead Sasuke to his hypothesis, but his proactiveness and sacrifice is going to save the world once again.

Also, notice how he is actually fulfilling his definition of what a kage is. He's protecting from the shadows and accepting his daughter's hate for the sake of the greater good.

Sasuke is indeed the best character in the series. There is no denying it now.

They get info from him not orders. At the end of the day the Kage still make the important decisions. Sasuke can't protect the world on his own, that's why he still need the help of the Kage and that's the reason he reported back to Naruto when a threat was discovered. He is a ninja, that's his job. Any ninja's job to be honest. Sasuke's just the only one that can do that specific mission.
