Naruto had people who really cared for him, such as the Sandaime Hokage, Jiraiya, and to some extent Kakashi.

NO ! Naruto's desire to become Hokage woul've never changed. Achieving the ''Hokage title'' is what drives Naruto's motives. As for Sasuke, his desire for revenge would've never left him, everything Sasuke has done up until now was because of vengeance

Or the same way he fought Orochimaru and the sound ninja to protect Sakura?
He didn't know Kakashi was gonna pass him for that, he let Naruto eat the food so they can work as a team...

Naruto would've never defeated Neji, therefore Neji would still be a jerk (that's actually a good thing to me)
Naruto would've never trained with Jiraiya in preparation for the Chunnin exams, or went with Jiraiya to get Tsunade..so Tsunade probably wouldn't wven be Hokage
Therefore he probably would never have learned Sage Mode in pt2...meaning he would've gotten fodderized by Pein and
Naruto would've never changed Gaara. Gaara would probably never become Kazekage
Naruto would've never grown as strong because he wouldn't have much drive because he wouldn't have a rival like Sasuke..
I could keep going on...

If Sasuke failed the test, Sasuke wouldn't even have the sharingan, meaning Orochimaru wouldn't be interested at the moment, also meaning that Hiruzen would still be Hokage.

Orochimaru killed the kazekage way before, he also wanted the destroy the Leaf and kill Hiruzen..the Kazekage would still be dead.
Why did Naruto go on a 2year journey with Jiraya? he wanted to be stronger to bring Sasuke back
Why did Naruto train so hard to learn the Rasenshuriken? because he wanted to catch up to Sasuke who became too strong after the timeskip.
Naruto would have drive but having Sasuke as a rival made it so much stronger.

Exactly people assume that Sasuke was always selfish. He didn't become selfish until the Kage Summit, even after he found out the truth about Itachi he still cared about Taka and though about team 7 when he fought Bee..he started to go insane when he went to kill Danzo.

he saw team 7 in taka and saved them even when he was planing to kill all konoha team 7 included he did that

and his past is too tragic he is not selfish but he lost his mind i am sure sasuke will turn good (even if people hate it ) he still flashback about team 7 after all this gotta mean something

for me i love both naruto and sasuke but without sasuke i wont read naruto manga
