Nardo is FODDER even in his own manga he is only "strong" because he has Kurama, and the Allience giving him piggy back rides all the time Itachi, Madara, Sasuke(in some ways) do everything themselves without sucking other peoples **** for help. Sasuke is pretty mentally stable, at least judging by that, sure. However, Kakashi, Gaara, Itachi and Naruto put up a great challenge.

Naruto had to grow up with everybody hating him and he did not turn into a blood-thirsty killer. Props to him. Itachi murdered his own family, which is much worse than just watching it die, even if it's for three days in a row. Oh, and he had to live a lie his entire life and never looked unstable, not even for a second, unlike Sasuke. Gaara, meanwhile, was mentally unstable (very) for some time, but he ended up overcoming what was probably the harshest (maybe on par with Itachi's) of background stories in the Narutoverse. He ended up becoming Kazekage.

However, I think Kakashi takes the cake. He killed Rin, yeah, but Itachi did something far worse and on purpose. However, what I think demonstrates he's mentally stable was that he survived Itachi's Tsukuyomi. Imagine excruciating pain three days (or one hundred and eight depending on your view of it - if you're going by that, there's nobody close to him in terms of mental stability). That's worse than watching your whole clan die, and probably worse than even Itachi's tragedies. Kisame was surprised Kakashi was still alive.

Mentally strong ? Please you are kidding right ? When Sasuke learn the truth about Itachi, he wanted to destroyed the Leaf. This is not a very big deal, it is logical in this way.But when he met Itachi as Edo Tensi and talk to Hashirama he changed his mind. Orochimuare, Obito even Sasuke have manipulated him : This proved that he is not mentally strong.

Sasuge just... He has been swayed to follow people blindly without thinking, he buckles under pressure has a ego complex. His mind has been able to be controlled by people, He wanted nothing but power so he let a Oro take him. He took the weak way out, someone mentally strong would resist. He is far from the mentally strongest character if anything he is one of the weakest mentally.

I agree. Sasuke was just a 7 year old kid when he witnessed human shambles, and that too of his own kith and kin. The horror of this is incomparable in the entire manga. Yet he set his life goal and always stood by it, remained head strong in his pursuits. This is something Kishimoto stated as well.

He went belong the bounds of Nationalism and found his own identity, away from the mores and dogmas of sordid village systems. It takes a man of courage, honor, and strength to pull it off. Sasuke's perseverance is on another level.

Kakakshi and Naruto endured just as much as him, yet they stayed in the village, they stayed sane and they still want to protect their friends.

I say sasuke is up there, but certainly not first.

No they didn't. I cannot believe anyone would even venture that. Naruto couldn't bear much because people didn't like him and he had no companions- that is hardly something to get emotional over. He gave into his anger several times over petty issues. Kakashi's single family member died. Sasuke lost his entire clan. The burden of grief and anguish is not even remotely comparable.

Sasuke had family. He loved them dearly. His brother who he loved dearly, slaughtered them all. He lost everything.

Naruto never had a family, he was a lone wolf who got bullied. He didn't loose anything. He started with nothing.

Gaara can be debated on. His story was kinda a mixture between Naruto and Sasuke.

I wouldn't call Naruto mentally strong. He lashes out by instinct and isn't the brightest bulb (haha no offense after all, we all love him for that)
Sasuke set a goal, holding the pain in and strives to kill his brother. Oh wait? He kills him? No way, my brother isn't a bad guy!? I'm sorry, but if I were sasuke and I killed my brother who in all reality wasn't a bad guy, I would of broke down. Sasuke's mentally strong. I admit it. Duckhead is mentally strong, guise. XD
