I thought this was common knowledge? After all, it seems to me like treason, murder, assassination of kages, torture and attacking innocent people for some delusional belief that its all in konohas best interest is Itachi's very own M.O. Lol

Itachi did some bad things, but he picked 1 bad out of 2. If he was in the same position as Sasuke now, he would eagerly cooperate with Naruto, just as he wants both of them to cooperate.

Not all the Uchiha were bad. Only the people that were planning to take over and even then it's hard to define them 'bad' with the way they were treated. Regardless, a lot of innocent people were killed that night, to keep the village safe. At one point Sasuke wanted to burn down the villiage, including the innocents - just like all the innocent Uchiha were slaughtered.
A lot of people died that night but even more would of died if war broke out. Kill a hundred to save many more.
