Naruto without Sasuke:

-Naruto doesn't have a rival to motivate him to improve, thus he stagnates and remains a dropout forever.
-Naruto doesn't have anyone to relate to as a child and probably becomes another Gaara, due to him thinking he's the lonliest boy in the world and nobody else understands him.

To summarize: Naruto would lose his goal, his motivation and his sense of self as result of Sasuke not being there. Furthermore, Sasuke's goals have never been as rigid as Naruto's. Naruto's goals center around Sasuke mainly, his main ones are to surpass the Sauce, bring the Sauce home and become Hokage so the Sauce will bat an eyelid in his direction. Oh and to achieve peace. Sasuke's goals have constantly changed as he's developed and he strives to achieve these goals for himself, not for anyone else's sake. You take away Sasuke and Naruto has no purpose, take away Naruto and Sasuke is still a strongly developed character.

I agree with you. Naruto stated that Sasuke was his first bond. Kakashi was wise enough to notice that Naruto trained harder to surpass Sasuke and also bring him home. Does anyone remember the Rasenshuriken training? Yes, Naruto trained hard to achieve it because he wanted to catch up to Sasuke.

Naruto also trained harder to attain and master Kurama's power because he was thinking about Sasuke. He said,"I'll need the Kyubi's power to fight Sasuke".
