Hi
I have been thinking about this for a while now. Sasuke and Madara are supposed to be reincarnates of Indra.
We can see here that Indra thinks "power could make anything come true". This holds true for Sasuke as he seeks power to fulfill his long time ambition of killing his brother. He does this by defecting from the village and going to orochimaru.
Once again after fighting with team 7 on the bridge, he transplants his brother's eyes to restore his eyesight and to gain additional power so he can destroy the leaf.
However during the talk with the edo hokages, Tobirama tells sasuke something interesting.
The uchiha valued love above all else. Does this contradict what the Sage said about Indra, and therefore sasuke?
The reason why sasuke wanted to acquire power in the first place was to kill itachi. Why? To avenge his clan. Why? Because he loved his family. It was the pain of losing his loved ones and finding out that his beloved brother lied to him all this time, that he managed to awaken the sharingan for the first time.
When he decided to destroy the leaf, it was because he simply could not forgive them for what they put Itachi through, even if it meant hurting others to get what he wants. He did not care about anything else except his clan and his brother so he put them above anything else, even if it meant nit respecting Itachi's wishes, he did what he thought was best for his brother and the clan. Why? Because he loved them immensely.
Here Madara mentions that the good feelings a person once had "turns into deep hatred towards the world". This explains Obito as well as sasuke during his MS phase. Sasuke was a far cry from the power seeking Indra.
So are they really similar? Even Madara at first loved his brothers, especially Izuna, which was how he acquired the sharingan and mangekyou (I assume). He only changed when the village rejected him as hokage and decided to make Tobirama hokage. He later defected and fought Hashirama at VOTE where he was defeated.
Madara has more similarities with Indra than Sasuke (except how he needed help from the nine-tails against hashirama who did not need any help). Is there a reason why sasuke is different to Indra or am I over thinking?
Thanks for reading.
