Had he been on his own, there would have been no difference. Itachi is arguably the strongest genjutsu user in the entire verse and the genjutsu Kabuto used was one that Shikamaru broke in Part I.

@bold kurama leaked it's chakra to the akatsuki when it went on it's rampage, does that mean kurama is partly responsible for the death of all killed by the juubi? Actually, thanks to sasuke failing that mission, the hachibi was never caught in full so hachibi could fight alongside naruto against obito and prevent kyuubi from capture too, which means the juubi would have way stronger during revival.
Kurama never leaked out his chakra to the Akatsuki, Obito used Edo Tensei of the gold and silver bros who were inside of Kurama and ate his flesh to survive and gained some of his power. The Bijuus didn't like humans because they viewed Bijuus as monsters and weapons; they are used as weapons. Sasuke didn't fail his mission because he wanted to, he thought he succeeded and could care less that he gave a group of S rank criminals what he thought was the 8 tails. It was Bee who escaped so it's thanks to Bee for being skilled enough to fake his capture and not Sasuke.
Differences between the Bijuus and Sasuke being used is that the Bijuus are forced to do what Obito wants by controlling them while Sasuke is fully aware what he is doing and can decide to help the S rank criminal that his brother tried to protect him from and who also took part in killing his Clan or to return to Konoha and do things the right way.
